Thanks for your report Mike.

I have two full days of fishing it. I only caught two fish total, but one was in about 5-6 pounds of cooked spinach. No break offs and never found any issues with abrasion either.

I tried your trick after each outing with about 75 yards being pulled out and stretched. So far it seems to be handling up well. Im at exactly 30 days with it being spooled up. Line memory is still pretty low. First pitch or cast shows some memory, but then it straightens out well.

It seems to be taking the KVD very well too. I have also noticed that I have a noticeable amount of increased sensitivity with it over InvizX.

Mike Bush

That sounds good. I am hoping it can replace my flipping type setups at the minimum. Shooter is just damn expensive.

I had good sensitivity with mine as well. Im a Sunline guy anyway, so my comparison is to Shooter, which isn't exactly fair. But given its about half the price...very viable option.

I do fish my finger on the line as it comes in the spool , so I get to feel about anything the lures touch.

After the first weekend impressions only, I would not hesitate to use it as my flipping/bottom contact line. I will keep testing though. One weekend is not enough by any means.

rockchalk06

I just ordered a spool in 10# to try with Weightless Plastics. Looking forward to the smaller line to see how supple it is compared to Inviz-X. 10# Inviz-X is about as soft as silk too.

Mike Bush

Caught about 20 more this weekend on it. Same deal...deep fish in brush. Only fished on Saturday...spent time with family the rest.

I will have some more coming this week. Temps are dropping fast here, highs were mid 90s last week and into weekend. We have lows in the 50s this week. Hopefully it will push some fish a bit shallower as the lakes turn. Should get a flip bite going...I hope.

River needs to get going too...would save me about 45 minutes a day driving as its down the hill from me.

More updates.

I haven't taken the line off yet. Fished Federation State this weekend with original line. Had some minor coiling with it, but nothing horrible by any means. I didn't even stretch the line.

Caught about 30 fish total on the one setup I used. I fished rocks, docks and pilings with it. Setup was a Dobyns DX 745 HP with the same 25# Assasin with a 5/8 Elite Tungsten and a D Bomb.

Zero break offs with the line. I even fished stupid for a little while with a few bad knicks in the line and still didn't lose a fish. Not the smartest move in any tournament...let alone Fed State.

Im not giving this line a full pass just yet. It has proven its worth for the most part, I just want to see how much longevity I can get out of the original spool fill. Ill stretch and spray until I feel it needs to come off. Im just glad I started this thread so I can track how long Ive had it on.

I ordered a spool of 20 lb about a month ago.  It is pretty similar to other lines as far  as castability.  The major problem I've had with it is that it has broken 3 times on 2 different trips.   That never happens with invizx or sniper.   For me at least, it was a failed experiment.

What kind of break offs? Just totally random on hooksets or against pilings or rocks or what?

Ive had several guys tell me they break off and they actually tie a bad knot and it comes out. Not saying this is your issue, but 20lb line of any kind shouldnt just break.

518

2 on hookset and one reeling in a fish. I use 20 lb invizx and never, ever break it so it's not a knot issue (lol) .  Have used sniper and never had a problem with it either.  It is an issue with the assassin, or at least the spool that I bought.

Mike Bush

What are you doing with the bad spool? You contact Sunline or just trashing it?

518

I tried it on 2 different reels, so there was only a little left, but yes I did dispose of it.

Mike I have found your post very interesting. I also use Shooter but as you said it's pricey so I will be following your report. Thanks for the info.

Thanks. I think I will get out this Friday and the weekend some as well. Might give it a stretch and see how she feels.

Shooter is just damn expensive. Great line...but I flip a lot and actually use quite a bit even with the large amount of backer I have on my reels.

Mike Bush

Another update. Did my line stretching trick on Saturday and fished Sunday. Line stayed fairly limp all day. Never sprayed. We have been having temps into the 40s and night and 80s in the day and rods are in the boat, so the line is being subjected to the temp swings.

Caught about a dozen or so, nothing big.

Mike Bush

Same thing this past weekend, without the stretching trick...and no spray.

Had a little coiling going on, but nothing that was too annoying to stretch out. So far, it is proving its worth in the 25#.

Dam0007

I just got 2 spools gonna wait till spring to use it.  ??? 12lb for my jig Rod and 8lb for leader on my Shakey head combo. I really want to try Shooter/Sniper it's not available in US yet as far as I know. A stiffer version of sniper I guess? If anyone has fished it would love to hear a comparison between that and Assassin.

Went out this Saturday and fished the river. Didnt stretch the line at all. Coiling wasnt too bad, about the same as the previous time. Fishing sucked a little bit though. Only a few dinks. Water is in the upper 40s here. Ill have to drive south to keep fishing.

I think overall its proved its worth. Ill keep testing of course.  I think spring fishing should give the final verdict on it.

I would like to test some smaller tests though. Anyone who is using 12# and lower, feel free to tag on to this thread.

Drake691

does it have the same memory characteristics as invizx?
I have lots of great personality traits. Or as my doctor calls them, symptoms.

loomisguy

I've been fishing the 12lb. for several months on 3 different rods. Overall its been good.
It's a few bucks cheaper than sniper and you get 225 yds vs 200.It's a little thicker in diameter than sniper.
I think Invizx is a bit more manageable and has a bit more stretch than assassin.

rockchalk06

I had to finally pull the 15 pound off my Core. I've been stretching it and treating it each trip. Last Sunday I spent more time trying to control the spool than I wanted. I ended up throwing my swims on my 873 to finish the evening.

That said, I had zero problems with fraying, break offs or knot problems. I was pretty impressed. I just think 15# is too heavy for extended use. I had this line drug around timber and rocks each trip too.

I will replace it with 12# soon and give it a longer run. I found two new spools of 12# green FC Shooter for around 15 bucks so I'll use it first.

I did buy a couple of spools of 10# Assassin and so far am loving the low memory. I've got it on two rigs. Jerkbaits and Senkos. No memory so far.

Mike Bush

Thanks for the update RC

I could see that 15 getting beat up a bit. I try not to mess with 16# Sniper around rock or wood too much.

I want to try some lighter weights on cranks.

rockchalk06

I like the 10# more than InVizx so far. I will probably replace all rigs with it this spring.

Mike Bush

Good deal. Ill move a few more setups to it as well. 25 more yards than Sniper and a few $$ cheaper.

You feel Assassin has less stretch than Sniper?
