I need several to understand that  :-\

Who would ever think a company would want to expand their product line? Gary Yamamoto must also be pissed because company B would never copy company A
I have lots of great personality traits. Or as my doctor calls them, symptoms.

Never been a huge Zoom guy. I like my plastics to come scented. I don't truly know if it makes a difference, but I seem to catch more fish on scented plastics (not just salted). I have more confidence in them because of this. Roboworms float, so this would mean no salt correct? Are they scented? Do the Zoom hand poured worms have salt? I know most of their other baits are salted.

How can a company mass produce a Hand poured bait?  Are there that many hands out there to compete with a machine?

I am a huge fan of Zoom baits, most of my plastics are Zoom but I am disheartened that they would use the same names as Roboworm.  Surprised they would lower themselves to that level, almost like BPS "Sinkos", lol.

They are already in stores. I picked up a couple bags the other day but then talked myself into putting them back. They looked really good! I just really don't need anymore right now. -Jim

Zoom Cotton Candy has been the best producing soft plastic color for me, other than green pumpkin.  I don't use any of their other colors.

It's a shame they would rip off another company!

Any idea if they paid ROBO for that?
Yes, that is a gator in my profile picture, but I was trying to catch a bass, so it counts!
One 3ft long, 10 pound "Largemouth" for me.

I love Zoom plastics. Other than Doc Irv, it is pretty much the only plastic I use. I am looking forward to trying the hand pours. While I understand everyones opinions, I would like to ask what is the difference in Zoom copying a robo worm color and all the crankbait manufacturers copying the "woops"y Shad pattern? It doesn't bother me so much. I have bought robos before and had success. they are not as easily accessible as zoom plastics are. at least not where I live. I don't know about these new hand poured worms, but Zoom has different versions of the trick worm with or without salt. I would imagine that they hand pours have no salt. But  don't know that to be fact. I have yet to see them on the shelf.

I use a lot of Zoom plastics too.  The BPS stik-o's work better than the original Yamamoto sinkos.

I used to have a hand pour business. I could produce about 5000 worms a day, after working for the A.F. I did it traditionally with hot plates and pans. Now with melting pots and a lot of molds I'm sure I could do 10k a day.

As far as names. Well that starts on the west coast. Color names like Morning Dawn and Witches Tit are just a couple of the standard names that everyone uses. You can't copy write a color name, maybe the ingredients to get the color but when talking about making gallons, one drop of coloring won't change the visual out come but changes the ingredient list.

It's just a western standard. And not to break anyone's hearts but in reality Robo "stole" the names from the hundreds of hand pour guys that have been at it since the late 70's....

When you walk into a store you don't look for strawberry with a blue line, you look for Morning Dawn. Just like you'd look for June Bug or Black Neon...

Zoom made me the fisherman I am today -- LOL
price wise , Zoom seems to be the least expensive and they just flat out WORK !!!!
Be it the Famous Trick Worms or the Ultra-Vibes , Junebug < Watermelon/Reds or any other that work locally of what ever time or season -- that WORK !!!
I save the used plastics and give them to others that recycle them into new again baits .
One of the recycled baits that Bassin Bob made for me resulted in a 13 lb 1 oz , Big Old Monster bass.
Bob remolded it into a Monster Ultre-Vibe Junebug [ THANK YOU BOB ].
I really don't care what Zoom or any other company makes or calls their baits , it's all about availability , price  and color.
Thank you Zoom for making the baits and keeping the prices reasonable.

The last layer of a Roboworm is salted, they typically don't float well until they have been in the water for a while and the salt has dissolved.

Isn't this the same way with Z-Man ElaZtech? How long does it take for the salt to dissolve? Can I soak it overnight? I'm looking for a good floating shaky head worm.

Similar, difference being that the Roboworm is what is considered a hand pour and is layered, the last layer containing the salt mixed with the plastic.  The Zman baits like the TRD have salt throughout the body.   The Roboworms float fairly quickly because the salt is entirely exposed so I would not bother with soaking them.  The TRD on the other hand can be soaked and many people do this.  It not only helps them float but also makes the bait much softer and  adds to its action. If you choose not to soak them they still loose enough salt that it does not take long before they float well.

Makes sense, thanks.

I remember reading that Robo Worms are not hand pours but are machine made, their softness is in the plastic mix, all I know is they work. I use a lot of Zoom also as well as BPS and a few Berkley.

A great floating worm is made by Conquistador baits, excellent for jig/shakey or dropshot techniques.
