The April BS thread looks like it was a success. 15 pages and 359 posts and counting. I will bring it back for May. This is your thread to talk about your outings in more detail, post video's, and ask questions. Enjoy!!

I agree on it being a success, helped minimize the non BR chatter and keep it more for just scores. Lot less to look through to find an old post and cull fish.

Gorgeous day!!

But the fishing was lousy. Caught 2 12"rs but nothing to brag about.

Got my NuTech Jigs today, that was fast! Loving them already.

Hey gang, wanted to take a moment and welcome back: SWEDE, WEST, FishinDaddy, BFN, TOOK, Rick, Joe, Mutt and Deadeye once his Mom recovers from surgery. Best of luck this month to everyone.  ~gf

There are plenty of slots open for this month. In case anyone reading this is considering to participate. Remember, cutoff is on May 6.

I love this friendly competition and if anyone that hasn't tried it is reading this well you should definitely give it a shot! The more the merrier.

I can't wait to see the pics. I am sidelined for today so I am looking forward to all of the people who are out today catch.

Looks like I need to find new waters to fish. The places I bank fish aren't producing the sizes I will need to compete. I found a nice canal yesterday in Doral but as I walked the bank I saw only 2 small 5 inch largemouth. I did see a ton of other fish including at least 10 BIG FAT Carp. I also saw what I thought was a baby snook maybe 4 inches long and thought, nawwwww can't be. As I walked along the bank I saw another snook maybe around 10 inches long. So they are in there. The question is are there largemouth? Due to a heavy moss/grass on the bottom I am unsure if the bigger bass were hiding beneath it.

Deadeye

Congrats to Lou for winning last month.
Looks like you guys are off to a great start for May!

I won't be back until the 12th or 13th and probably won't get out until the week after that.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers while I've been away.

Best of luck where you decide to go. Hopefully I will be heading out soon and will have something to report.

Ugh, not a fan of this Tappa Talk update.

Capt. BassinLou

Yeah its a bit of a pain, and they removed the nice editing option for pics

Nice video Lou.. it's so hard to see the bite on top water sometimes, my video was the same.

I put on a stainless TM cord that's plastic coated today, hopefully it holds up. Picked up the pieces at Lowe's. Used a hammer to crimp them down lol

I noticed you can't get the full appreciation of the stike on video, unless you have your own videographer following you around. Lol. Or the strike occurs literally right in front of you.

Keep us posted on that cable. Should last a lifetime. My concern on those is if the plastic liner wears away, will the cable saw through the mount?

I think the strike has to be one of those mega ones where the fish is big and there is all kinds of splashing and you edit the video to go slow motion and zoom in and that is probably my editing capabilities for now.

You can zoom? I have seen slo-mo but never a zoom feature.

Good Job out there Swede. Putting the hurt on everyone lol.

Figured I would post and let you all know what is going on. I went to the Orthopedic Back Specialist today to get my lumbar checked out. He didn't feel anything wrong and the XRays were good. He still recommended an MRI to rule out any serious damage. So my appointment for the MRI is Thursday and hopefully I can see the doctor again as soon as the MRI gets to him. Either way I am sidelined for at least the rest of the week. Figure I'll rest it.

In the meantime I've made a few purchases. I've decided to somewhat make my own jigs. Siebert Outdoors has some ridiculously low priced Jig Heads. 1.15 a pop is not bad at all. All they need are skirts which brings me to my next purchase. I remembered that my goto for cheap stuff wlure had jigs at one point (all sold out). I have 2 of the jigs and the skirts are pretty decent. Nothing fancy mostly solid colors. For 1.20 (200 strands) I got Black, Blue, Green/Black.
Then I went over to a site called fishingskirts. They have a ton of stuff on there for making your own jigs. They have an excellent color selection for skirts in Silicone and Rubber. They also have a great selection of jig heads also at a very good price. Not to far off from Siebert's prices. The difference is with Siebert's you but them individually and at fishinskirts you buy them in 4 packs. I preferred the option of choosing colors and weights without being tied down to a clump of the same heads.
Honestly I was looking for dual weedguard jig heads but barely anyone has those and the people who do sell em for a premium. Soooooo just cause I really liked the nutech jig, I went and bought a couple of heads.

See this is what happens when I am not fishing...I sit at the computer and buy fishing gear!

I was also able to research a hitch for my car. The parts + Labor are pretty expensive at 350+ over at Uhaul and a nearby car place. I may need to mix and match. Get the hitch online then take it to the car place.
Uhaul has the hitch at a decent price, but the labor is ridiculous. The car place has the hitch for a ridiculous price but the labor is cheap, go figure.

As far as the boat is concerned, I have narrowed things down a bit. Brands that seem to work for what I am looking for - Crestliner, Alumacraft, Starcraft, Smokercraft, and well any that make a simple jon with a wide beam. 62-70 seem to have a much higher weight capacity which was one of my concerns while still finding a boat that was under 300 lbs. These manufacturers have what I am looking for, now its just a matter of finding the used ones in good condition. :)

I just can't wait to get me a jon!
