Rick:

I know you live in Dade County but there is a place in Broward, practically around the corner from Bass Pro Shops called the "Hitch Shop". Their phone # is 954-985-8589.  I had them put a hitch on a Chevy S10 Pick up few years ago in anticipation of getting a boat which I still have not done plus we sold the truck to my son when he moved to Vermont.  Don't remember what I paid but I don't remember it being that bad.

Thanks CanesFan. I will find out what they charge. I don't mind driving to broward if it saves me a good chunk of change lol.

Man... all I can say is thank goodness for last month. Because this month I will have only a couple of days to fish and they are not any time soon.  :'(

Caught another 21 inch bass today in Day #1 of the annual Military Bass Tournament on Lake Eufaula. My brother and I weighed 5 going 14.95 lbs.
15 + 16 + 21 + 21 + 21 = 94 inches

Dang Swede looks like you may want to invest in a bigger ruler if you keep catching these nice sized fish! ;) lol
Great job out there. Congrats on the 21. Looks like the rest of us are gonna need some serious  :help: this month to keep up with you.   ~c~

This whole not fishing thing is driving me nuts. I'm going through withdrawls. I pass a canal or lake and all the sudden I start shaking and foaming at the mouth.   :'(

I was up in the area as well. On Griffin for my MRI. Right next to the plaza there was a lake. I didn't have my fishing gear. Been leaving it home so I don't go out and do something stupid, like try to fish. lol

One of my friends up is going to help me out. He is great with mechanics. He builds his own gocarts, fixes his cars, has done a bunch of work on his own boat, and now even builds them drone thingies. He has everything we will need tool wise to install the hitch, and he can help me or should I say I can help him. He would most likely be doing the most. I just purchased my hitch online for 118 bucks, and the wiring for 47. Free shipping and I got a nice 15% discount. They also did a price match on the wiring kit because they had it for 69 bucks and another site had the same kit for 47.

I should get it all within 5 business days which means next weekend I can head on up to my friends house and get that sucker installed.

I've also found a few boats that I like. Used with just about everything I need included. All the boats reasonably priced are in central florida or a bit north of Central Florida. No problem though if I hear back from this one guy in particular with good info and he isn't willing to hang on to it for me till next weekend I could always rent a uhaul and drive it down here. My buddy that is going to help me with the hitch has also volunteered to go with me to make sure the boat and motor are good to go.

I text the seller a few questions that need answering but I also asked if he was willing to take it out on a test drive with me. I think that should be a reasonable request considering the distance I will be driving to buy it. I've never bought a boat but I would think it's like buying a car. You don't want to buy a car without test driving the sucker first.

I can't wait to get out on the water with a boat!

I was going to mention putting on the hitch yourself.  Did you get a hitch or a receiver?

I did two receivers in my time, both were straight bolt on situations, the wiring harness was just a plug and play thing that took like two minutes.

I did them both on Ford trucks, so wasn't sure how it would be on a car though.  My 94 was a little tricky because it was a step side, like the Lightening package of that year, and fitting the receiver into fiberglass bumper took a little playing around, otherwise it was pretty straight forward.

I got the full kit. Hitch and Receiver. It is a bolt on. I would need to drop the exhaust to put it in but shouldnt be hard. The connectors are also a plug and play deal. The hitch I bought is specifically for my car so it should just work. its also concealed so it isn't easily visible when not being used. Wouldn't want all them Mustang Enthusiasts coming at me with pitch forks and torches for putting a hitch on a mustang gt lol.
It should be straight forward, the only thing is, I am not handy when it comes to cars and construction and stuff like that. Yet I can put together a computer in no time. Also I don't have the tools to get the job done. My friend does.

Shouldn't be a problem then.  Good luck, and a few pictures of the process would be kind of neat to post around here.  (hint hint).  ~roflmao

I'll let you know if I go around those parts.

I spent the last 6 hours going through craigslist with a fine comb. LOL. There is a lot more stuff out there than I thought. I kind of opened up my scope of requirements because it was just going to be impossible in my price range. Once I realized that a Jon, with trailer and motor, with no extras for less than 1800 wasn't a bad idea I was able to find more boats. A blank canvas gives me the ability to customize the boat to my liking in phases.
If I can find something that is priced right even if it has an older motor and the boat and trailer are worth the price alone then the old motor is just an extra. If it runs, why not let it run till the day it dies. Then buy a new motor.

I am happy some of you are getting out and doing some fishing, that's awesome. I would have really liked to have gone out yesterday for couple of hours and be out on the water. Not to compete, but to fish be outside. Sadly, yesterday, the last of our family pets past away. The treatments that were meant to help her, were to much of stressor and she had a heart attack and died as I was taking her home. :(
She was with us for 17 years. It's been tough because we have lost 3 of our longtime family pets over the last 3 years. One for each of the last 3 years. They were part of our family for very long time and they will be greatly missed.

Pferox

So sorry for your loss Lou, seems that I miss my pets more than some of my family, they can get that close.

Sorry to hear that Lou. I know it feels like a family member when they've been with you that long. We lost our 18 year old cat last year.

Hey Lou, I'm really for your loss. I don't know what that feels like but I can only imagine. We grow so attached to them and they become family. My Bella is 6 years old and has been with me since she was 1.

Sorry for your pet family loss Lou. They do become part of your family and are hard to part with.

Sorry Lou.

I need to get out and fish but I've been slacking.  Long days at work lately in the sun make me want to not stand in the sun and fish :-(

Everyone is killing it this month for sure.

Lee Smith

So sorry for your loss Lou.  I'm just as close to mine, it will be tough when that day comes.
