Hello all,

I am new to the bass boat world and I am thinking of replacing the prop on my bass boat. The prop it came with used has a bunch of nicks and does the job but I am thinking of fixing her up right. I was wondering how I can figure out what prop to use on a 70hp mercury outboard. As always appreciate your help. I had to google pitch and there are a million options. I am just looking for something that handles well.

Note: when you get a chance can you edit your title for us. It will help draw more advice if it says 70 instead of 700.

What kind of boat do you have? It will help determine what will be the best prop for handling.

Sorry about that! 70 not 700. I have a 16ft cajun bass boat with a 70hp Mercury outboard.

You didn't say what pitch prop you're using now? That will help as well. Sorry for not mentioning that in the first post....

Are you using an aluminum or stainless steel prop?

I am not really sure how to interrupt what the prop says. The numbers say 48-73/44-17.

Jd1585,
Is it at all possible that you misread your numbers and the / is actually a 1 ?
Like these two examples

Big Wrench,

You are exactly correct! The / was a 1 so the full number is 48-73144-17.

Sweet , even a blind dog finds a bone every now and then :)
Im pretty sure that's a 17 pitch aluminum-  3 blade . Will make it a lot easier to figure out what will work on your setup now.
