Deadeye- It is in the shopping center across from where you turn into Flagg lane to get to Gander Mountain. Make a left at that light and you will see Academy.

Has anyone ever used a a frog like a Humpin' Toad as a trailer for a jig?

I've never really heard of anyone using it but I was on one of my night ops after my softball game. I threw the top water frog (Booyah Pad Crusher) for about 45 minutes and decided to try what I had rigged up a few nights ago. A black jig and a dark trailer...what do I have other than silly worms. Hmmmmm a Humpin' Toad from BPS in Black Magic color. Hell why not? It is dark, bulky and can make a good amount of commotion in the water if I swim it.  I threw it a few times, jerking it around and fishing it slow, then I cast and fished it as a swim jig which it was. A steady retrieve and near the bank the 15.25 hit. Wacked it good. I kept fishing it for another 15 minutes without any success but then it was time to leave.

Frogs as trailers work really well in a lot of cases.

Personally I use uncle Josh pork frogs as trailers on spoons and jigs.

Another fun way to really get reaction strikes is take the skirt off a buzzbait and toss on a horny toad or whatever you want.

Interesting, thanks! Yeah I guess I would never have thought to do this except for the fact it was night fishing and in my past experience smaller, quiet baits don't seem to have much effect. I suspect a faster moving bait would catch the attention of the bass far better than something slow and light. Also bulkier seems to help, must make it easier for the fish to see in the dark. I think with a bit more time I could have caught another on that setup. I realize the size of it would probably cause smaller fish to just ignore it.

I caught a ton of fish today including two nice ones. Most on Stanley Ribbit frog or a speed worm.

I'll cull later on. Lunch time!

Nice fish West.  My trip today was very short, but I did manage a lb or so croaker, so it wasn't a skunk fest.

Figured I'd give you guys the skinny from today.

It was supposed to rain all day.. it was overcast till around noon!

Water temp was 80 to 81 all day. It was a flat water calm day very light breeze at the end as it cleared up.  The fish were literally caught all the way around the lake and coves. Mainly on speedworms on the first fall. I caught them off grass to lone trees to points of the coves. We caught 3 at 20+"s mine went 3.11 and 3.3 I think sarges went 3lbs and change as well.

The first few fish I caught on top water then when the bite died I swapped to the speed worm. The big fish were all on worms.

This is the lake, neat place my Sarge grew up on and knows the grove owners who give us access. Grass ramp...

I have heard of this chain before. I wonder if it will make its way to South Fl?

The guy said they just opened 4 in Orlando and are opening some in Tampa soon.

That is my go to big box store, have a lot of decent stuff for decent price.  Their H2O mettle reel is kick  :ass  I have a couple and they have held up to the salt very well.

I bought some stuff from them the other day. I posted on here they had a sale. I got me some power pro 300 yards for 15 bucks! I also got a rod rack, and the black and yellow frog I was throwing today. Though my order came split. I only got the frog the other day, still waiting on the rod rack and the braid.

Only problem I had from ordering from them was when I got a rod shipped, they didn't do very well with that, three times.  Finally shipped me a refund instead.

Well Deadeye, I guess I'll join you in the back pains department. Hows yours doing? I pulled something playing softball on Wednesday and ive got a new tightness in the center of my back ive never felt before. Im used to the lower back pains from my excessive weight but this one is very different.  :( its more like a stabbing in the center of my back.
