Looks like a good place to spool with fluorocarbon
True. Yozuri gets the job done too.

I usually put a long fluoro leader on my braid there. It really is crystal clear. Same with the lake ive been fishing by my house. Problem there is that the rock ledge has claimed many hooks and jigs. So i prefer to keep my 50 lb braid with no leader if im fishing anything heavier than a senko. Also ive lost fish due to uni to uni failures.

Rocks/concrete slice braid like a hot knife through butter....need mono or flouro for that situation....The knot failures can be fixed just practice and do it better.

Hey Rick, try an Albright Special, or an Alberto Knot, or even a Slim Beauty for tying leaders.  Double Uni knots with braid to whatever will continue to tighten down and the braid will literally cut through the other line inside the knot.  It is more prevalent when under excessive force. like a hangup or huge fish.

Many times you don't notice it until it is too late.

What you are running into with the rocks by you is what I run into with shell beds, it is a tough call, thin enough braid to get away without a leader and it is cut off city, heavy enough braid to combat the cut offs and you start to think about them noticing the line.

Today i caught a 15 inch as i was dragging my bait up the rocks. I felt the rock then another then a hard thump and it grabbed it and toom off with it. Set the hook and started reeling. Of course hit the ledge and was able to get it over. It fought harder than a 15 thatd for sure. I had a double uni with fluoro. Didnt lose it but you are rigjt pferox it eventually cuts through the fluoro.

Nice upgrade Lou.

Sorry for the knot issue Rick, one reason I never use a leader.

Being so close and running out of time is driving me nuts!! Lol!!

Whats driving me nuts is that I started the month so well and just fizzed away.    :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

Then yesterday with so many big ol piggies right in front of me I couldn't capitalize on 1. I mean for fk sakes! I almost wanted to throw a rock at em and see if I could knock it out. Is that against the rules? lol

Nope, not trying to create a debate on this. It is clearly a bad thing, and would never ever throw a rock at a fish. Disclaimer: That was just a joke.   :surrender:

Gee, I would, but then again with my luck, would miss, it would skip back and hit me in the head.   ~rant   ~roflmao

Nice Cull Lou.

I went out for a few and tried for a Big Fish Bite with my Swimjig. Just 3 1/2 hrs later I get my first hit. Unfortunately for me she tied me up in the pads and got off before I could get to her.

Then to add insult to injury she came up out of the water to her tail, tail walked across the water and shook her head at me as if to say "nada nada poo poo, you missed me".

Wasn't huge but would of gone 4-5 lbs and I'm sure would of culled my 15.5 and probably busted the 100 mark for me.

Frustrating day, missed to great fish on the frog. First couldn't get a solid Hookset, the second I lost right at the boat. Wind was ridiculous and had a headache the whole time. Already loaded up for tomorrow! Now if only my legs will cooperate with my plans...

A cool 17" fish to add or cull. I lost track of my numbers.

Capt. BassinLou

Pz when i get home i will check where you stand and let you know.

Capt. BassinLou

I am officially done fishing for the month. I went to this new place but with high pressure system and blue bird skies fishing at high noon can be pretty challenging. Let's see what April brings.

Capt. BassinLou
