Lou I have no money to pay off anything.. unlike you Mr. Drug Cartel king... yoo bad you made arrangements to pay his off and let me be in 5th place ~shade lol

Duck porn... wow...

I am looking forward to fishing a private access lake her soon my sarge has finally got access to.  He said he used to kill them in it when he lived on it.  But that was years ago.  Worse case scenario I'll fish my lake Friday.

Pferox

Hey West, have Y'all tried getting access to the mines?  We were allowed to access a few from shore for a while and man there are some big fish in them.

These ducks are so conditioned to being around humans at the park that they did t give a crap i was casting. One tried to eat my worm. 2 were doing it right i. Front of me. Another posted yp right next to my leg facing the same direction i was and sat down Next to me. Lol. I had to move. They were crowding me lol. Before that i had to deal with about 25 seagulls. Some girl was feeding them french fries. Of course i had to stop throwing my jerk bait cause they would swoop down and try to grab it.
Took I envy your quiet lake where its just you and nature. The lakes i fish are a flippin circus. I have people stop me as im walking to the lake to fish to ask a million questions about the fishing. Or to give me "advice". Such as the other day i was told the baits i was using wouldnt work. Shiners is the secret to catching fish.
I have people camp out next to me to watch me fish but then wont stop talking. I have kids trying to ask me if they can borrow the rod im not using right at that moment. Dodging seagulls and ducks. Kids throwing what can only be described as boulders into the lake. The endless blaring regetton music. And all i want to do is fish and relax. Lol.
That would be crazy. There is quite a bit of traffic and when leaving/launching always have a ton of people approach because of the kayak. I go to the place where it's only me and the Lizards lol

Well that old spot that was so good at one time has really gone to sh*t, thanks to the FWC and their war on vegetation. Place started out being ringed with Hydrilla-Eel Grass- Floating Pads. Then they killed all the Hydrilla. Used some sort of pellets they dropped from a plane. Then the Floating Pads took over and once again it was great. Now they are mostly gone too. Lastly the one place that has always held a nice Eel Grass Flat was void of any grass too.

Most of the bottom is mud and flat, but the water looks oh so pretty as you pass by in your pleasure boat.

Eventually found some Stem Pads where a run enters the lake. Caught 5 around them but only one that would help. Only other place I found pads was at the other end where another run enters the lake, but nothing there. What a shame.

Replace the 14.5 with this 17.5. That gives me 15 + 15.5 + 17.5 + 18.5 + 22 = 88.5

I've started taking two pic, one of the overall and one of the tail like West and some others do. Makes it easier to see the mark.

Here it is:

Deadeye documented your catch. You have jumped up to 3rd. Well done.

So let me ask you guys something. Is taking the pic of the entire fish + a second pic of the measurement close up the norm now? I have never done it like that. I was curious since the stakes are higher starting April 1st if this should be instituted as a rule change? If so, pics with a rod being used as the measuring device will not be accepted. They can be used used only to appreciate the size of the fish.

The group will decide as always. Majority decision wins. Not trying to rock the boat... just an observation. With a considerate prize on the line, I want the playing field as even as possible.

That's why i was asking. I do the exact same thing. Click and zoom. The only thing i can think of is from the desktop. You can't do that. Smart phones yes.

Wondering what spinning reel everyone is running?  It'll be for use in saltwater (light inshore) and heavyweight bass, mudfish and gar.  Looking at Shimano Stradic 300fj and the Abu Garcia Revo SX30

I decided to start that with mine after looking at some that I posted with the Lap Top and realized I could not see the numbers myself, so I figured no one else could either.

I noticed a few others doing it and it does IMO make the numbers much easier to see clearly.

To go beyond that whatever the group wants is fine with me, but honestly I always thought the "compare to the rod" guess measurement was well, BS. If I know I'm going fishing and I'm taking my gear I take all of it. On the shore I carry a tape. On the boat I've mounted a ruler. And I always carry my Camera Phone or my Digital Camera to make sure I can take a pic if I want to.

But that's just me. Again whatever the group wants and agrees to is fine with me, it's not a Life OR Death situation and sure not worth me wasting my time worrying about.

But you did ask.......

I agree with this 100%

Easier for me to see when posting.

Plus I've always thought the rod compare is crap.  I've said before.. you carry a rod and camera.. but not a $2 fabric roll up tape that would fit in a pocket..

I try to make it easy for everyone and Lou.  I post my pre and after numbers and keep track myself.

But I've always been a by the rules person ~Popo

Capt. BassinLou

Thanks for the feedback so far. I was just curious. It does make the measurements easier to read in certain situations. I will see what the feedback is when we launch the new competiton next Wednesday.

I wish my wife would let me do that. Could you imagine. She tells me "Babe you could go to the Glades for a bit and try to beat WEST". Woohoo!! ...... :( ....
I wish.

Im okay with the rods not being  allowed. Just from my experience doing it. Its really hard to get the perspective right to measure.

There is no money involved here. If you need to you may use a rod, then take a picture with the rod and a ruler. Listen, half the time the fish don't stay still for the picture. Sometimes it looks like the fish measured 20 when it was really 19, or vise versa. This is just a fun honest game. Get the best picture you can. You know what it measured before you try to juggle a camera into the mix.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Photos on boards are much easier though. I know i lined the fish up with my rod but it still looked like they werent even.

On that fish I took off what I think was .25" just to be fair.

I am with LMG on this one. I take my pics in some ridiculous resolution thats about 3 times bigger than my monitor. When I upload them they seems smaller but when you click the picture it zooms real big. Easy to see the numbers even when I was using that tiny tape measure.

On the cheap end, but I've caught nice size snook on it. Shimano Sienna 4000.

I really like it. They have a 3000 also if you wanted to go smaller.

I really like the pfluger trion 25x. They have a 30 which is a bit bigger, the 25 is rather small

Agreed the rod measurement deal is not great. I have a measuring tape that is attached to my fish scale, it is retractable in the handle, the small one i was using early on. Which is a pain cause its hard to see and its flexible. Now I have the BPS ruler as well. it fits in my bag and was 6 bucks or whatever. A lightweight tape measure would work, fit in the pocket too.

Honestly I am only responding cause you asked Lou. I'm fine with whatever is decided. Thats just my opinion on it.
