Fortunately for me my monthly glades trip is next Saturday. I am excited, my son  is coming out with us. The reports are favorable, so he will have plenty of chances to stick some. Lol.

Spent the day at the park fishing. I had a great outing today. 6 largemouth, though only one was worth measuring. 1 nice big Peacock to finish the day off. Unfortunately the biggest of the fish I lost. An 18+ hit my smallest bluegill spinner bait that only has one treble hook. The hookset I thought was good but as soon as she jumped out of the water the first time the hook came off and I was left cursing. Then a few casts later I lost my little spinner bait.

The largemouths I caught with a variety of baits. Stick-O's, spinner bait, and one on a crank. The Pea was an entirely different story. It was getting dark and I came across big spots just at the border of the rock drop off. Watching them for a little I realized the spots were moving slowly and eventually all bunched up. I figure Peas don't hit after sunset but I thought it was interesting how they all schooled up. Smaller schools seemed to gather together to form one big one. I knew they were peacocks because just before the sunset one of them came after my crank and didnt hit it. So my quest began, I tried the crank and failed. I tried a jig with a senko trailer and failed. I then switched the trailer to a big okee colored craw. As soon as I swam the jig past the school the peacock attacked. It seems I may have upset it after casting past the school so many times and reeling different baits through the school that this was the last straw. The big craw claws must have done the trick. The pea hit, and hit hard and even on my MH rod this Pea put up more of a fight than almost any Largemouth I have caught. I got him all the way to the bank and about a foot, maybe two feed from land the fish wiggled free of the hook. Lucky for me the fish was beached in shallow water so I went in after it! Damn right, shoes in the water, reached over, scooped him up .

Lou I would like to replace my 13.75 fish with this 16. That should put me at 86.5.

The Pea got me back for disturbing his sleep and not letting him get away and taking pictures of it.

Thanks West. I fished with it again today and do love it. I can cast just about anything. The spinner bait I lost today casts like a dream. I have no Idea how far but it almost gets me to the mono backing on the reel. My buzz baits, cranks, spinners travel a mile. Weightless senkos 5 inch go about double the distance as with the megacast and thats with all but 2 brakes on. The 6 inch stick-o flies with great distance as well. I've honestly never cast so far with any reel ever.

Thats cool cause when i get surpassed and not win at the end of the month i could say i was in the lead half way through lol.
Lou will probably go on some top secret tournament trip and come back with 100+ inches.
Ill have to make a glades trip before end of month to stay in the game unless i can find bigger fish at tropical. I know they are out there. If i can just catch 3 or 4 nineteen inchers and stay away from the temptation of fishing for big peas lol

Good luck to ya!
I am booked up for saturday but I might be able to get out to the glades on Sunday. Just need to decide if I want to go to The Trail or Holy Lands.
Saturday after I am done with a few things I might go over to Tropical and give it a shot.

I didn't know that people could drop yaks and canoes and jon boats in the lake I fish but on Sunday for the first time ever I saw some people on an inflatable, they just werent fishing, 2 teens on yaks and 2 guys on a canoe on the other side of the lake. Granted there are no signs but its a public park. The only signs say no swimming. I know they have paddleboat and canoe rentals in the bigger lake but not the one I have been fishing.

Anyways I will ask the office this week and find out for sure. If they say I can, then I am throwing my inflatable in there, with or without the floor boards I planned on adding.

Hooked up with a Black Acaria at the park. I was using a chrome rebel floater lure about 5 inches. I felt the bite on the lure and set the hook. Turns out I grabbed him right under the mouth. He was about 6 inches himself and with that tiny mouth I'm guessing he was trying to take a chunk off my lure. Anyways no pic cause the "woops" stabbed me with his fins and flopped his way into the water.

At sunset I hooked up with this 15 inch largemouth but it isn't big enough to cull. So just enjoy the pic!
