Some very good fish to kick things off.

I am good with the 2 points for Big Fish, makes sense to me. Not so much for the Lure of the Month. To many variables in where and how we fish depending on where we live.

As for the Classic, I will bring the Trophy and we can make it a Traveling Trophy meaning the winner for each year gets to keep it for a year then the next winner gets it for a year and so on.
If that is OK with all of you.

I also agree with keeping it the same date each year. Makes it simple and everyone knows when it will be. We can move the location if we choose, but I am happy with where we had it last time. Great place to stay and the fishing is good too.

I'm cool with the 2 points for big fish as well. So I've heard a little about this Classic where we all get together. Around what time of the year is it, and where was it last year?

For you and others that might have joined us after we held the Classic last year, here is the Thread that we ran during it. Be forewarned it got a little heated and stupid near the end before it got locked.

Ok so nothing new then.  What are the rules on the classic I don't remember as in the points.  I think either the classic should be its own points system or they count for the month, but not both.

Other wise its more of a meet and not a two day competition.

Capt. BassinLou

Its good to see that the classic is bringing up enthusiasm. Remember, the classic has/ will have its own thread, when the time comes. Let's keep this thread focused on March. The Classic is more than 6 months away. ;)

The rules of the classic are not points, but rather a 2 day total of inches. As far as the fish counting for the month, its only fair since some here are only weekend warriors and it takes one weekend away from them and their families. But you only get to keep 5, and everyone is on equal turf.

LMG what I am saying is were points given to angler of the year running's from the classic.  That's what I don't recall.  If so getting points from the classic and then keeping those fish towards the month is not a good idea.  If there was no points from the classic then its fine.  We are all weekend warriors and the classic takes up the same time for everyone who attends so its still equal.  Like I am off Monday and Tuesday this week.  But I work all weekend (fri-sun) all 12 hour days... so these two are my "weekend" days to fish.

My point is if you get 5 points for the classic.  Then the people who got none are still behind in that month.  I don't understand why it isn't a separate "tournament" (like our monthly ones).  If no points then its just a meet and greet basically where we are all at the same place one weekend.  Either way is fine with me.

Lou I am sorry I know the classic is months away and this is for March.  But people asked for ideas.  Would you rather we post in the fishing book thread?

MCS

Holy Smokes can we beat rules to death, its just a fun comp right. Now we have 6 pages of stipulations and we must sign in blood as well as give up our first born or left leg as collateral to compete.  ~b~ ~b~ ~b~ I am going to another forum where people actually post fishing reports instead of talking about rules LOL

As an outsider, I think, since there isn't any points for the classic, keeping the lengths for the month is fair.

I kind of think of the classic as a separate function, just like the other Ultimate Bass get togethers are.

One of these days I might even show up.

OK. I get what you are saying. You prove a good point. We will keep it separate then.

As far as the questions, yes we should have done it in the Fishbook thread. Keep all things non BR related in there.

What happened to the nice reports and discussions we had, over at BR we would talk for days....ah nevermind...I will bite my tongue again, I am trying to refrain.

true, I see the point of pics only but its a pain in the ass to go back and forth easier report with the fish...Anyway just a thought. I could care less. I just come here to BS. The comp thing is getting old...been doing it for like 2 yrs now....and honestly the last thing I care to do when I do get a chance to fish these days is measure and photo fish....My time is limited where I used to go 3-4 times a week a couple hours a time. Its now 1-2 times 30 to 45 minutes at a time.  ::)

MCS, I can understand where you are coming from. You and I and a few others came from the other site. I feel the dynamic here is different. If a "report" is needed then someone, in this case yourself will ask a pertinent question and then a discussion might begin. The majority of this group has been together for a year. We know each others waters that we fish. At this stage of the game its a simple case of asking what lure or outfit was used and the group is content. I know you like very detailed reports but this group is not like the FBN group that you are really active with, and/or the BR group of the past.
