Walking the frog isn't as important, just having the frog moving will get you great results. Fortunately, the clues were there but the baits used did not get the job done. Lesson learned I guess. Also a jerk bait thrown on your spinner would have been really fun. Rapala's in the F7- F9  sizes are really deadly. Gold and silver black always got me fish.
I guess since ive never gotten a hit on a frog i thought i was doing something wrong. I wish i would have taken more cranks and less soft plastics but i guess my train of thought was use what has worked in the past lol

The beauty of our sport is that there are a  multitude of baits out there. Over time when you have more experience  with other baits you will be able to call on past experinces and increase your chances of catching fish when the same situation comes up. Frogs being one of them. Tis the season for them right now. ;) The glades is the best place to practice.

Ill give em a chance next time. I have 4 frogs. What rod/ line is best for them?

Your PQ will get the job done. Throw into the cover, let the rings settle, pop 2-3 times. When the fish hits, the explosion around the bait will startle you at first. When the commotion settles and you confirm your frog is gone reel down and set the hook hard. Trust me after your first frog catch, you will be throwing the frog more often. ;)

I should have taken my bama rig that would have worked for sure.

Lol... yep catching 3 to 4 gars in one cast would have been real fun.

Using a worm hook, you could have used that shad as a top water weightless, they are killers this time of year.  Since there were mostly guppies, probably would have to downsize a bit.  Heck I would have even tried to throw a crappie jig with a spinning set up, would be amazed how many bass tear those things up in the early spring.

Thanks for that tip on the frogs Lou, I pretty much suck at Frog Fishing. Oh I've caught a few but not many. I have been keeping the Frog moving and not letting it sit much. Maybe that will help.

Again Thanks.

On another note: Man it looks like it is going to pour any minute now! I might still brave it and head out. Why? Is it because I'm Dedicated and Willing to do WHATEVER it takes to try to win?

No more like I'm to stupid to know any better.

Ummm...... no you didn't mention that!! Lol...  have a good outing.

ccr425

Hit the refuge yesterday and had my worst day ever in that area. Had a nice one on and lost it in the reeds. Had several rushes at my toad that didn't quite get the job done, lol. Ended up landing one fish before the rain started. Wish it counted......
It went 7lbs even.

Looking forward to the pics. I saw one of them, the fish looked nice. If anything I have a couple hours on Sunday or Saturday to make something happen in one of my local water holes.

This end is heating up NICELY!  Seeing some great fish, LOVE THIS!

It only gets better TOOK. There are still days left. You will quickly learn how to make each of your outings count. Even though I had a blast with my son and enjoyed watching him catch fish. From the competition perspective I was disappointed that I only culled 2. I really needed to cull 4 in the 20's to compete.  lo

That's what I am noticing. I notice that I miss at least one large fish per trip which has been disappointing, but all part of the process. I fish a other tourney called KayakWars which keeps my trips fun. I have to plan trips based on boat traffic because it gets a little dangerous with some of the boaters here, leaves me to fishing more during the week

The cool thing I am noticing about you is that you are available during the week to fish. Time is special commodity. I would be a pig in  ^-^ if I could go fishing out in the Glades every Saturday. That would equate to 32 hrs fishing at one of the best bass capitals of the world vs my current 8hrs month.  ~roflmao

Pferox, its only a matter of time I get knocked out of first. This time of yr the Central FL participants do extremely well. My challenge is competing to be in the top 5 for the entire year. Summer time is especially tough.

Keep this in mind. In October we all gather from across the state at Lake Kissimmee. We call it the Bragging Rights Classic. Last year was our first one, and we had very good time. Deadeye was our very first Classic winner. So mark your calendar, the first wknd of October, Grape Hammock, on Lake Kissimmee. Here was last year's thread.  http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=119096.0
