12.5"

Only got to fish for a few minutes before I had some problems with my reel and didn't have another with me.  The one that I caught I got on a melon shad swim bait.

Had a complete blooper moment fishing today. First fish at my first spot. 4lb maybe 50 yards from ramp punchin. Caught him and when I was trying to measure for this contest it bounced, bounced and over the side (slow motion) ....HE GONE had to laugh he had tenacity (rest of the day was on fire probably caught 12-15 but all small, even caught some pan fish while punchin.)  Will say it's difficult to measure and photo while in a kayak with ridiculous wind.  Gonna be at it again tomorrow

:'( Ouch!! Seeing a nice 4lber flop back overboard hurts. Fortunately its not the last day of the month when that happened. It's happen to me twice, and I would have gotten 1st place if the fish didn't become unhooked right in front of the boat!!

I had to laugh. I was trying to lay it across my lap and get the tape lined up right. Right as I moved to snap photo it seen a chance for escape. I found a spot Tha was equivalent to a nursery.  Ton a small 9-10" bass, super agressive was a fun day.

Look into a BPS ruler. Its easy to use and the numbers are big and clear. Measuring tape can be a PITA.

Went out and the fish are off the beds in my lake :-(  I tied all my rigs to bed fish too.  I lost a decent one in the lilly pads and had a top water bite for about 5 minutes lol but they were all slapping at it.

It was in the 80's out and water was 74.

Managed two on lightly weighted vibe tails.  Both were caught working the worm very slowly.

Nothing big but on the board.

You're good Dark.

Did a little night fishing today after a miserable softball game that I had to forget. Best way to do that was by catching a bigun. So I figured I would give my black and blue swim jig a try with a nice big paka chunk trailer at my new favorite spot. There was no wind, the water was fairly calm and the family of ducks were not happy that I woke them up.
This pond has produced the two 14+ from end of last month and the 18.50 that was my personal best from Sunday, during the day I've found the fish being held up on a rock ledge but tonight was different. The rock ledge wasn't producing and my very heavy swim jig wasn't doing a good job of swimming up without a few snags. After realizing it I started casting shorter, trying to judge the distance of the ledge at night is not easy. But I managed my next cast into a grass patch where this new PB 19.25 piggy was chillin'. Ripping the swim jig through the patch of grass caught its attention and it hit hard, and not very far from the bank, but did get my spinning reels drag going a bit and it felt heavy so I knew I had a good one.

Upon dragging her onto the bank I realized this could be it, my new PB. A measurement showed that indeed that was the case.

19.25 inches

With that I leave you all with a question: Has anyone ever set the hook so hard on a fish that the fish went airborne from the water over your head and landed about 10 feet in back of you? Yes I did that tonight after finding the only small fish I have caught in that pond. I made a 7 inch dink fly. But don't be alarmed his jaw was fine, he managed to give my finger a big bite as retribution before I gently put him back in the water.
