I'm interested in what type of blank it is?
I have lots of great personality traits. Or as my doctor calls them, symptoms.

Not sure if Dobyns ever discloses this.. I know the DX models are made in Korea , by JS COMPANY but not sure about the other series of rods

I'm going to try a 663  or 703 for squarebills and spinnerbaits.

734 is where it is at for spinnerbaits.

I'm looking forward to these rods as well.  I think they will be great for the price.  I talked to the man this morning.  They are still looking at May.  PM or call me with your phone number if you want to get your name on a list to call when they come in.  As soon as I get the OK I'll let you know.   I will post as soon as they are available.

Great idea Guys!
The more orders through Ron the quicker those Fury rods will get delivered...

Dobyns rods are made in Korea per Gary's design & specs... Maybe someone that was at the Classic can testify to the look/feel etc... Trey Harpel is a really great finesse Bass guy...I know He was very impressed.

I would imagine they would have a hard time selling Savvy's if these are as good as people are saying. Trey Harpel is a great guy, he is also very honest in his opinion of things. I am really looking forward to trying these out.

It should... The Savvys aren't a rod I'd ever use for anything but maybe a spinner bait rod. Talk about a deadstick.

lo Which makes you wonder if these 109 priced rods are too good to be true.  ???

I think it is a good move.

The $100 and $50 rods are a big niche.  There are a whole lot of people who won't or can't pay over that for a fishing rod.  But many will fork out the extra 10 bucks for the Dobyns name.

The price of some carbon blanks are dropping, of course the high end ones aren't cheap, but  really in the past few years many of the $39 Shakespeare combos are carbon or carbon composite vs the fiberglass and Eglass of years gone by.

For a lot of Joe fisherman out there, a slight upgrade in rod construction is a big change.  Guys used to super sensitive, higher end rods might not think much of them, but to a guy using an original ugly stick it will be the difference between a Volkswagen and a Cadillac.

$100 technology becomes $10 technology over time, and selling a lot of that technology at $10 is what finances the development of the new $100 technology.

Gary doesnt like to disclose blanks, or many things he manipulates to build his rods.

I do know the Fury will be a different blank, and an overall better blank than the Savvy or CW rods. They will also carry a Fuji seat just as the rest of the rods do.

Honestly, this will kill the Savvy line if things are what they appear to be. That is my opinion. If you can get a solid rod that people like at the 100 mark....that is what will sell, plain and simple. And truthfully, there are plenty of 100$ rods that arent that good, but they sell a ton of them because people are attracted to that price.

a better blank? What gives on the price difference then? Guides? Just curious to the difference before I dive in.

my thoughts too. May need to call Gary or Richard to find out. I wished they would make moving or reaction series blanks in cheaper models. I love my champion cb rods but sometimes I can't afford them all to be replaced ha ha.

Same can be said for the Savvy price range. They sell just like the GL2 loomis' do in their respective price ranges..

Guys....dont get all worked up over this.

Its a new rod line. All new materials. Its taken close to 2 years to get this rod done. Its good.

I say its better than the Savvy..that is my opinion. Its gonna have similar action to a Savvy, just not the same materials used. I know guys expect alot from Dobyns, and making a 100$ rod is not an easy thing for Gary.

The Savvy was supposed to be a 100$ rod, but when you keep adding little things to it the price goes up.

Just know it will be good and at 109$ its gonna be tough to beat in the rod market.

Mike Cork

Words are getting twisted here folks. The fury is a much better blank than the other $100 rods out there. Many companies build a 40-60 dollar rod but charge $100-$110 because the market will support it. Gary put a lot into the Fury line to make sure he had a great rod in this price point that is truly worth a consumers Benjamin!!

Once it's out there you'll see anglers are going to be very happy with the Fury rod.

I guess the point is, the Savvy is pretty underwhelming and then to release a rod that by some accounts will be better for LESS... That has savvy owners scratching their heads and maybe even feeling slighted .. Now, I could see it if the savvy was updated in some way... But I don't see how these two rods can sell side by side if comparisons are accurate.
