Nice chunks.  I'm going out again Friday to attempt to cull.  Hard fishing lately.  Hours for one or two bites.

Yeah I hear ya. From Safe Light until 11:30, approx 5 hours, I had 4 hits. Two was the dink. Exposed himself on a Topwater and missed it and hit the worm follow-up. Two hits while flipping and never felt a thing. Just saw line moving off.

:'(..... sadly I am done fishing for the month. I wish I could have done a mad dash on Saturday to cull some of my smaller fish but I can't make it happen. Best of luck to all you. I am sure there are going to be surprises between tomorrow and Saturday. There always is with this bunch.  ;)  ~cf

Got home and decided to hit my lake.  Found a few on beds.  Caught this one and a 16+ fish twice (lost him both times) :-(  his female was seriously 10+ lbs.  She was huge and that was in 6' of water lol I got to see her for a good 15 seconds or so before she got spooked.  I was trolling along and had to u turn lol

I was flippin a grass line and seen a bed so I figured why not. I normally don't fish beds but they were there.

WEST, documented your catch. You have tied with SWEDE at 72".

Also, quick question. Where did you get your ruler from and how long does it register. Does it measure longer than 24"?

I don't think it does. It's a "Rapala" plastic one that came with a holder. Got it at bass pro I think.  I always carry a cloth tape just in case for big girls.

See it mounted vertically on the console. Almost looks like a antenna lol

Capt. BassinLou

It looked metallic. I wanted to upgrade my boat ruler with a metallic one but they either run 22" or 40"

Actually one I edited in my phone awhile back. Thought it was cool.

What's crazy is those steps go into water because the water is so high.. as with the metal wall on the edges od the ramp.. they are under water lol

I thought about buying the big metal one at walmart and cutting it shorter. Like 30" or something.

Ok... i like that idea, how would you cut it?

Sorry couldn't resist.  I'm pretty sure they are just aluminum though.

Haha... seriously though... hacksaw?

West6550

LMG is the turnwrench around these parts.  I assume I'd put painters tape on where I wanted to cut it to stop it from getting scratched up. Then yea probably a hack saw.

I would think a circular saw would do the trick, long as you get the saw that cuts metal.

Or even a reciprocating saw. I prefer electric. A hacksaw seems like to much work. Might take you a long while depending on the thickness of the metal.

For an accurate cut, use a hack saw by hand, it won't jump around as much, especially if it is aluminum, which can be grabby and gums saws up pretty quickly.

Will have to sand down the edge and corners to keep from cutting yourself or even hurting the fish,  can use a cheap file or finer grit sand paper.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. My BIL is the collision business, i am sure he will have a tool handy to take care of the job. ;)

Deadeye

Jig saw would do it easy. Tape it off like West said
