Boated 32 today with clients, Largest was 7 lb. with several other overs.
Springtime bass fishing has been great and should continue that way for a while. Bass are in all stages right now with prespawners for next month, spawners, and some females coming off the beds too. There are several different patterns that are working. My favorite is to fish the cypress with a dark colored Cyclone jig where there is grass present. A V&M Bayou Giant worm or Hawg lizard works well here too. Next, a chrome or red rattletrap fished over the grass can be productive especially on windy days. When fishing super shallow try a weightless Texas rigged watermelon red pork shad or chopstik both made by V&M also. Big bass are being caught right now and will continue to do good over the next couple of months.

That's Awesome Paul, I was out there Saturday and Sunday and didn't put that many together  ~sweat

Question, when you are fishing Caddo do you like to look for muddy or clear water or does it make a difference?

Bass fishing this past week was a blast. 6 days straight with clients and averaged 25 bass a day with several over 5 lb. all the way up to 9.9 Lb. Our best bite came in the afternoons. Most of our fish came from the open water vegetation dragging V&M Chopstiks and Pork Shad through the hydrilla and pad stems. The cypress trees have given up some decent bass too. Dark colored lizards and worms working here. Bass are in all stages right now. We are still catching bass full of eggs and without. There will still be good spring fishing through April and May this year. The lake is on the rise and water temps as of yesterday were between 60-63 with the cool rain we are currently getting. This has been my busiest Spring yet and I look forward to rest this season to be full of happy clients and sore fish lips... ~gator

The lake has been pretty tough the past few days with the higher water and cooler water temps but now that it is warming back up the bite is starting to pick back up. The lake is no longer rising and has leveled off. In the dingier water, I have been doing best using chart./white spinnerbaits over the grass in 2-4 ft. deep water. In the clean water a V&M watermelon colored Pork Shad or Chopstik has been working around the cypress in shallow water. Pitching to the cypress with lizards, worms, and jigs is always a must in the Spring on Caddo, especially when trying to get that big bite.

The bite is coming back strong and should only get better with the temperatures staying warm. Afternoons have definitely been best for me over the past few days. Most fish have been really shallow and easy to catch. Watermelon colored trick worms and V&M Pork Shad have been working best for me. Anywhere there is clear water with a cypress/heavy grass mix is the trick. Have been catching some deep(7-9 ft.) off the cypress using black/red lizards and worms. Lake temps are rising fast....
