Was on my way home, like I said had rod in the truck figured I'd put this to bed
Nice job, Chris!

CCR definitly not light hearted. Fierce competition where we do battle to the death!.... Or the last minute. Which ever comes first.

I thought this was supposed to be a light-hearted "competition" meant for fun. I guess we need to post the rules exactly and have each participant agree to them each month. No ifs, ands, or buts! Seriously, this is for fun with no prizes. Sometimes I just use common sense. Lol, for a while I thought a fish had to be of legal size to qualify!
The rules are posted in the first month we started this thing here. They have been understood since. Late is late, measurements are needed with a pic. Even Lou almost missed out due to a lost picture.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

EvolutionTungsten

Competition is never light hearted, unless you are not trying to win. If that's the case, why bother?

Like I said, you guys should go re-read that post. It says caught that month, not posted.

FD, I too fish major tourneys. And the rules are the rules. When a rule says one thing, it doesn't mean another. You can't be lenient with measuring using rods to get it "close enuf" and then penalize someone else for being a bit late. If its light hearted, then my fish would have counted last month. That's all I was saying.

Funny thing is LMG, someone even mentioned they would take Lous fish on his word with a lost pic. So are the rules only being strictly enforced on some? Sure feels that way to me...

ccr425

I have no problem with the rules. I understand them completely. I meant for everyone else, if it's going to be this serious. Lol.

LgMouthGambler

We allow a length comparison pic to a rod because you may not always have a ruler with you. As far as your fish last month, it was caught in November and you acknowledged that, but were late to weigh in. You can't take a fish that was caught in November and use it for December. Lou and I have run this fun tournament on trust and truth. That is not gonna change. We had issue before with baggers, and this e were resolved by putting them in their place or not allowing for participation. As far as Lous fish, it wouldn't have counted without a form of measurement and a pic in the allotted time. Your issue is not wether you had the pic, it's that you were late to the scale.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Deadeye

Wow. Glad there is no money involved in this "friendly" competition.

I guess I'll weigh in. Any fish caught in a month and not posted before that month ends does not count for that month. Nor should it count for the following month, as it was not caught during that month.

In the past I have caught fish and not posted them, then later wished I would have as I did not get another one big enough to cull. That is all on me.

This is one reason I am not fishing a Bass Club as some folks take it way to serious. If this Bragging Rights Fun Fishing ever turns into that then I'm done with it.

I "bother" because I enjoy seeing everyone's catches and also sharing my catches. There's nothing tangible at stake, so I don't take things so serious. There are gray areas in the rules/guidelines, but common sense goes a long way. Especially since this is for "fun".

EvolutionTungsten

I agree CCR, just lately haven't felt like this was "for fun". Ever since the classic when I wouldn't share my bait with everyone on day one people have acted differently. Comments about pet fish, golf course fish not counting, and interpreting rules that aren't posted. If this is supposed to be friendly, sure doesn't seem so. I was going to let things go last month, but two weeks later Deadeye decided to chime in and stick the knife a week after everything went down. So now its not for fun for me, I'm going for AOY and knock him off that spot. End of story.

Good morning everyone. Happy New Year. I wanted to get an early jump on the day before I head out and go fishing. I want to take my time, clear my thoughts and make sure everyone was on the same page before I post the final numbers. I had tough time sleeping last night because I was pretty upset, not because of a win or loss but because LMG and I brought this "friendly competition" over here so that fisherman from all walks of life can come to one place, and have fun. However, as I thought this through, whenever there is a competition friendly, or not, there will always come a time when things will become heated.  Yes, ours competition is unique. At the end of the month there is no $$, no prizes, or trophies. But at the end of each month here we all are submitting fish for the opportunity of being celebrated for our hard earned fishing accomplishments. That's an awesome thing to have and we should preserve it. I love being part of this group and interacting with each and every one of you. I don't want to see "our thing" begin to disintegrate because of one silly incident. It has happened before and I swore never to let it happen again.
So..... to clear the air and begin the New Year with a clean slate, and for all of us to be on the same page I think I should publish clear and concise rules. However, since this is our thing we all have input and must agree with what rules we decide.

Rules:

1. Top 5 fish lengths submitted at the end month will determine winner. Note: Pictures have to be submitted within a timely matter. Competition is officially over at 11:59pm of the last day of each month. Any pic submitted after that will not be accepted.

2. A picture of the fish must be submitted on some sort of measuring device, with clear measurements for all to see.

3. There are no minimum lengths. That is solely up to the participant on what he or she wants to submit.

Please chime in with other rules that you feel should be implemented.  When we agree on all the rules, I will paste and copy it on the beginning of each month so that when a person says they are "in" they are agreeing to these rules. I will leave this thread open until all the rules have been decided and I will post them up when we officially kick off January. Can we all agree on this?

It is the responsibility of the competitors to keep track of their catches as well.

It is the responsibility of the competitors to be honest of their catches for that week/month, and that they are not "storing" fish pictures.

You have to state that you are "in" by the given date of the month to be considered a competitor for the month.

There you have it guys. It was tough and dramatic month what can I say. Chris congrats on the buzzer beater. Literally...  ;)

Now I am going to get ready and go fishing.  ~gf Hope the rest of you have a great day.  ~sun

Ok I'm late so I won't stir the cooling pot anymore.  But I'll say I agree with everyone else.  Each month is a different competition...  saying "oh I forgot to post this November bass in March would be an issue" which is why the time frame is there.

Now to add to the "clarified" rules.  Let's be specific so threre isn't any problems later.

All fish must be caught and posted by the angler (whom are a member of UB) on an artificial bait with no assistance from another besides holding the net for them.  All fish must be largemouth bass.  All fish must be caught,  photographed, and posted within each month in a timely manner.  Midnight of the first day and 11:59 of the last day of the month as the beginning and deadline (aka in that calendar month)

Any fish posted late will be negative that amount off your orginal total. (As in if you had 100" posted then late post a 25" fish to cull you loose 25" and will be at 75")

If you are caught "storing" fish as in from previous month or months then it's a DQ from the competition completely and all scores will be adjusted as you are removed from every month.

All fish should be photographed on a measurement device that is easily readable.  Aka no more rod comparisons.  Just carry a bunk board or a cloth ruler it's pretty simple.

Did I miss anything? Thoughts?

Pferox

so, based on the rules, I can enter lengths of Redfish and Sharks that I caught also, even if they are in Texas?  That might not be fair though.

Great fish BTW guys, AND it is an excellent way to keep in touch with one another.

We don't need to worry about a late post being a negative amount. It just doesn't count for either month. Plain and simple. The rod measurement stays. Sometimes you just may forget it, we use "trust" and good measurement to get a length from it.

Guys, Lou and I have never changed the rules in any way. They have been understood by you guys before. These rules are just like a tournament, only you get a month to do it.
1-you have an allotted time to fish.
2-you must use artificial bait
3-you must have proof of the fish
4-you can not "store" previous caught fish
5-you must make it back to the scales on time
6-do not piss off the cultured one.

Mark the rod, and post a pictorial measurement of the marked rod with the fish picture.

Wow dude you really need to chill. Your pissed at me because of this post I made on like Dec 4th after coming back from Pa and just getting caught back up on what was going on?

"Hey guys. I was away on a trip to Pa and just got back in last night.

Great come from behind win last month. Tough break on the late entered fish, but it is what it is and Lou did the correct thing. I don't know how much I'll get out this month but nevertheless:

I'M IN
."

This whole thing was started for fun. From the beginning the very first month (which I won) we have shared what we were using and how we were using it to help each other learn and become better fishermen. I have learned from other guys baits that I had never heard of and they have helped me to catch fish. I hope that something I have shared has helped someone else catch some fish as well.

At the Classic yes it was strange that you felt the need to hide what was working for you, as all the rest of us openly shared what we caught fish on and how that first night we got back in. If it was that important to you to win to do that, ok. It was important to me, and I suppose everyone else, to win as well. That didn't mean we changed what we had been doing from Day One.

Yep, I'm in the lead for BRAY. You want it? Come earn it. You win it? Congrads.

Pferox

It would take two pictures, one with the fish and the rod, then another with the markings on the rod and a ruler next to it.  They allow that in a couple of the local picture tournaments around here, but somebody always gripes about it.

Another suggestion is just put a ruler on a couple of your rods.  :-*

I still haven't seen a species regulation except for the one that West suggested.  hee hee.   ;)

Whatever you guys say.  I'm not a rod comparison person.  I have went back to get my bunk board or tape several times.  Just like I bring a rod, my phone (camera), and bait, I also bring a way to measure the fish.  Just my 2 cents.
