Did Lou get skunked? Don't see any of his fish unless I missed them.  Looks like you all had a great time with plenty of fish.

LgMouthGambler

Lou will be loading his pic probably tomorrow
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Hey guys... sorry I didn't upload pics, I unfortunately had real spotty reception.  I got home a little while go, I just finished unpacking and cleaning up the boat. I am exhausted,  but I had a blast. It was a pleasure to meet West and his wife,  Chris & Alicia, Deadeye and his wife. I am looking forward to next year. I hope those who missed will join us. The camp is great, the lake is awesome, I am so glad LMG came up with this location and venue. I will post pics and numbers tomorrow.

West6550

Yes great location and people! Looking forward to another one!!

Don't know why fishing was so rough for me.  But had fun none the less.  Plus I took a few days off to do it lol

Muuuch better than the Toho meets. Only reason I keep going is for the fellowship.

Anyway had a blast.  Now to post my dink over in the October forum from my home lake trip this afternoon.

Capt. BassinLou

I just wanted to share some scenery pics for now.

EvolutionTungsten

For my fishies, the two big ones were swimming an EZ through the Kissimmee grass, bubbling the surface. They were in it pretty far, so I was bombing it into the grass. Sparse grass patches mixed with spatterdock were where the two 24's were in. The three biggest on day one were all caught that way, over on Brahma in about a 200 yard section. The smaller fish were all in that same section on a horny toad earlier in the morning but they all hit outside the grass line. We went back around 11 and caught the three big ones, then looked around past Brahma on west wall for more areas like that but no bites. Day two was a spinnerbait fish cast into a covered dock, all the way at the back.

My area didn't produce a single fish day two since the wind shifted. Day one west wind and water was coming out of the grass, day two north wind and it was flowing past. Also couldn't even get to my spot till the wind died down at noon. Alicia caught a 13 towards the end but didn't want to post. Didn't mean to be secretive, but it was the classic after all! Lol

My fish all came on one of two things. I tried many things, things that I normally use, and they just were not producing so I switched it up and tried something else.

Day One fish came mostly on a Black & Blue 1/4 oz Swim Jig with a Blue Zoom U-Vibe Swimming Chunk, caught the first 4 on this. Two came on edges of points where current was flowing past solid matted grass areas that were formed out of pads areas. The other two came out of a trail that was choked with Hydrilla and had Kissimme grass on the outside edge of the trail. Last two came on a EZ Swimmer fished on a modified Spinnerbait. These two came off the outside edges of Pads.

Day Two fish were all caught on the same EZ Swimmer set-up. First fish of the day barely hit it and I thought I had snagged some weeds and was just reeling it in when I realized it was a fish, so I didn't get a good hook set. I lost it right at the boat, got a real good look at it, and it was huge. I told LMG and Lou, who watched it happen, that it was probably 6-7 lbs. I'm not sure if they believed me or not LOL. Truth is It was probably bigger than that but I knew they would never believe that. I have caught a 7+ before and if that fish didn't go 9-10 lbs I would of been shocked. Would of been a PB for me I'm sure. The three I caught were along an edge of grass bank that had current flowing along it and was wind protected. They were all within a 50 yard section and I caught them all in the last 30 minutes I fished.

Day 1 was tough for us in the beginning. Around 12 the power hour started and the fish lit up on a 100 yard section of the West wall. They were hanging at the edge of the hydrilla canopies and grass. That is where Lou and I caught our fish for the day.
Today we had a hard time finding clean water at the South end of the lake. Lou managed to pull out a couple of decent fish from a channel canal at the SE corner. We actually made 3 or 4 passes at it because they were biting.
Day ones lure goes to UV worm in black red flake.
Day two lure was the trick worm in watermelon red for Lou, and I had one on the UV worm and one on a lizard.
The event was a blast and we managed to catch some good fish despite the weather. Food was great, the company even better. For those that missed the event, well, there is always next year. I know I am looking forward to it again.

Nice fish, everyone! Thanks for all of the updates. How much effect did the cold front have on temps down there?

LgMouthGambler

Temps went down a bit. The big factor was the wind creating rough waters.

As far as my take on the fishing. If you have been following LMG's posts, he hit the nail on the head. Conditions were challenging but the lake was awesome and it holds some monsters. Maybe next year we will produce bigger fish.
