Im getting ready to leave the area to head back down south. Before I leave I want to share a tip to anybody that is planning a trip to the Thousand Island area, or Lake Ontario and its tributaties.

This might sound crazy to some, and some will get what I mean when I say, me and most of the guys I fish with (fun fishing) dont use this lure often only because it presents no challenge ehat so ever and almost feels like cheating.

If you arent looking for a challenge and/or on a tight timeline and dont want to waste anytime and just want to load the boat with Beautiful Northern Small Mouth, there is only one lure you need in one color.

Any tube in general is deadly on the northern SM but one in particular leaves them helpless. Its a standard Zoom Tube in a green color called H20 Violet.

Be sure to order some online with a pack of 1/4 tube jig heads of your choice (Strike King, or rattling Venoms work just fine) and tie it on a descent 14-17 lb abrasion resistant flouro and you are set.

Take them tube baits with you to Ft. Benning.  Those largemouth bass will eat them up in the Chattahoochee River  ~shade  You're going to enjoy fishing at Ft. Benning.  They have numerous small lakes on post (Electric Motor only) and access to the Chattahoochee river is right there vic of the air field.

I am really looking forward to Eufala for sure! I will sure miss targeting open water smallies though.

You'll forget all about them Smallie once you hook into those Largemouths  ;)  I fished Eufaula once the 18 months I was there.  I got caught up fishing the Chat and all its back water hide - a - ways.  Something you'll have to content with is the alligators in the Spring.  I didn't see many on the main river but back up in the back water areas they were there.
