How many of you guys own a Dobyn's savvy and a coalition weapon?  Is the CW a step above the savvy or are the rods very similar?  I have a savvy in a spinning rod but I don't know whether to order a savvy in a casting rod or if the CW is worth the difference in price.

What do ya'll think?

I have the Savvy and Coalition series rods. The CW is a tad bit better blank, better cork, and feels a bit lighter. The only gripe I have with the CW, is the graphics of the camo design is not as good looking in person compared to pictures. Both rods are extremely strong, and you wont be disappointed with either one I can guarantee that!
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

I read somewhere that Gary Dobyns said the blank on the CW is a little faster than the savvy.

I got a CW 735C couple weeks ago. The only other Dobyns I own is a champion 734. So I will give it to you from that perspective. The Cork is not on par with the Champ, slightly more fill. The blank is good, not the same level as the champ but not "dead" or anything like that. The CW feels just as light and balanced. I don't mind the wrap it is different from the all black rods. From what I have heard the CW is a step up from a Savvy and that is why I chose it especially seeing the deal that Dobyns has right now for them.

I think you guys have answered my question and confirmed my speculation.  I didn't think a company like Dobyns would do this,  but with a certain amount of money going to the Army fishing team for each CW sold,  I wanted to make sure that it wasn't the same rod wrapped in camo.

I recently purchased my first Dobyns in a spinning micro savvy and I have never used anything like it.  But keep in mind that up until that point,  my highest dollar rod was $69.  I am completely happy with the savvy and assumed that the CW was a better blank,  but wanted to make sure that I wasn't spending $50 on camo wrap.

Thanks guys,
Brad

Which of the two do you use for jigs and worms?  I am looking at a CW 734c and CW 735c and cannot quite make up my mind which one to get.

I use both. The 734 for 1/8 to 1/4 trigs, and occasionally a 3/8 oz jig or flipping weight(rod is also great for swim jigs but especially 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits, works for lipless and big spooks too). 735 for frogs, and 3/8 to 3/4 flipping weights and 3/8 to 1/2 jigs. I would use this over the 734 for big worms, but I have throw my 13" ribbon tails with a 1/4 on the 734 and it is fine just would prefer the more umph driving in the hook. I think if you are more of a jig man, then 735 if you are more a trig and all around 734. I will send you a pm with some more info.

And another thing that might or might not bother you but the CW don't have the guides wrapped with the wire, they are wrapped with tape then epoxied so it doesn't break the camo pattern. You can see it on the Dobyns website in the photos.
