Since I'm not out fishing, I thought I'd work on the garage door opener light. It's been flickering. Then I thought, while I'm out here, might as well fire up the pot and make a few more shaky's. lol. Grass needs mowing too but, this is more fun.

Do you paint your heads? If so how?

Polaris425

Yeah I usually just rattle can them with a good enamel.

I tried dipping them but the paint I had was just too thick. Would probably work if I thinned it down some.

Right now all I've got is a can of black so, it's black, or plain. Lol. However I did paint a few red ones.

Polaris,

First off,  "Happy Uncles Day".  LOL

Secondly,  Where do you find these shakey head molds?  I am interested in doing this myself.

Haha thanks brad! I got mine from Barlows tackle (Google) best price I could find.

The only complaint I have is I could not find a mold that made 5 or 6 of the one I use. They all make 6 at a time but 6 different sizes. If I could have found one that at least made 2 of 3 sizes that would be cool too. But essentially I have to make the size I like one at a time.

Saw your post and decided to dust off my mold as I was almost out of the size I use the most (3/16). Figured I would share a photo.

I like em ! The kind I have , have a flat head (so they stand up I assume) and don't have the screw spring but a solid barbed pin. I would think you guys' type would hold the worm better . Great job guys makes me wanna do my own now
Stop by the Garage and let me know if you have Maintenance issues that you need assistance with.

They make flat bottomed that take the screw keeper, Janns Netcraft has them. It's a mold I don't have, I might get one for this winter. I powder paint my jigs, it's not hard and lasts longer than paint.

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

I make some w/ a straight pin too, for my friend that has arthritis. He has trouble with the screw kind.

Powder paint is the way to go, its super easy and is hard as nails when its cured.

Bobby Saffel

How do you use the powder paint? Thinking about getting into this

Thats what I use.

You just heat up the jig head and dip it in the power for a couple seconds, then when you pull it out it turns from powder to paint, pretty cool stuff. Then I just bake them in the oven at 350 for 20 mins and the stuff is very durable.

Looks good to me. Still havent mastered using the shacky head though. Still love the amount of feel you get from them. Can tell whats what underwater really well.
