I got some water in my fuel once.  Since then, stabilizer every time I put in gas, as well as the water separator as well.  It doesn't take up too much room, and peace of mind is a nice thing...

With today's fuels the water separator is a great idea and will save money in the long run. Between ethanol and condensation there will be water in your system. Additives and a separator are your best defenses.
