I know I ask a lot of questions, but there is a lot to be learned from the "Minds that Are" here so I'm going to ask anyways.

What in your opinions are some good ways to make resume stand out? Pictures? Graphics?

Thanks fellas.

Five Alive, this is a trial and error kind of thing. All manufacturers are different and will react to different things. First thing to remember is that manufacturers see hundreds if not thousands of resumes a week, So the trick is to come up with something in the first two lines (if not on the cover sheet) that will make them say I WANT TO READ THIS ;) otherwise you get tossed in the pile with the rest ~xyz

Also chances are much better of getting picked up if you start with local agencies first and don't forget that they don't have to be fishing related :-*

Fish For Free, can you help us out here  ;)

On any resume make sure your spelling and grammar is correct, and that you use the "King's" english.
Don't use any slang, the only technical stuff should be fishing related, and general terms, nothing local.
As an example use Crappie, not Speckled Perch, stuff like that.

I've never done one for a sponser, but its just about the same as a resume you would write for a job.
The last time I used a work resume the first line in it was something that said this resume is not what you can do for me, but what I can do for you.

Something that might be origional is to develop your own letterhead, kind of like a banner, but it dosen't flash.

The letterhead should have your name, address, and phone number in it, with some kind of artwork with it, only use it for the first page or the cover letter, the rest should be regular paper. Be consistant with your correspondance, use the letterhead when ever you write to that sponsor....kind of make it your trademark.

Professionalism gets people's attention, the more business like and professional looking your resume, the more you will get noticed, anywhere.

So maybe...like for the cover page have a picture of me as a faded background with a catchy phrase for the cover page? Would that work.

Well, you could, but I was thinking a little more subtly.
Like a header with a small graphic........something about the width of a siggy banner but across the top of the page.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......let me think.

First thing that comes to my mind FiveAlive is are you using a resume to attract a sponsor that has no idea who you are?

If so you might want to consider sending it in a HUGE 3' X 2' box that you send overnight - that'll make a statement in itself.

In all seriousness a resume is a list of accomplishments.  I would only send it if I was asked to send one by a potential sponsor.  At the level most of us are at "our resume" isn't going to attract a potential sponsor.

If you've read FishForFree2 and the SPONSORSHIP ADVICE report that is posted here on the site, there is one thing that'll help you gain sponsors probably more effectively than anything else will - letters of recommendation.  As Joe from Secret Weapon Lures says - "they're gold."

Personally I don't think resumes are affective, unless a potential sponsor REQUESTS to view it.

Hopefully I'll have more answers to these questions in THE SPONSORSHIP NEWSLETTER from tackle companies and pro anglers.  I've talked with a number of tackle companies who have agreed to participate in it.....................should be very informative.

That's my 2 cents.
