I have family in Colorado and am seriously thinking about moving out to Denver. I have a 21ft aluminum bass boat that I fish in often. From what i have seen there aren't many places to fish for decent bass from my boat, or am I missing something? I really don't want to drive hours and hours, so hoping for some places around Denver. Perhaps one hour or closer.

Aurora reservoir seems promising for smallmouth but perhaps the numbers aren't really there. Any input appreciated.

I know there is some great small mouth fishing around the area, but resources are limited.

There is certainly decent Bass fishing you can do from your boat but the size of the water out here is minimal, like get on plane and you are already on the other side of the lake.  There are a couple lakes in the Denver metro that have trophy Smallmouth but the boating regulations are kind of screwy.  We have a couple lakes on the front range that can support derbies up to 40 boats(1day derby) but that is it.  Many ponds that have bigger Largemouth 4-6lb but they are very heavily pressured.  We travel to our neighboring states for most of our multiple day derbies.  Bring your boat, or you will be dissapointed.  When you get here look up www.denverbassmasters.com feel free to PM with any other questions you may have.
