Hey Tom,
Glad to see you made it to the forum. I hope you get to know some of these folks here they are a lot of fun and they have some fishing info tied up amongst the bunch of them :)

I wanted to make it a little easier to find the info you might be looking for so here is a link to the fishing reports for California

http://ultimatebass.com/lbf/index.php/board,34.0.html

Hope that helps a bit. I am sure that Cal has some ideas on the area you are fishing down there and there might just be others out there that would post if they had the answer to a question...

Welcome Aboard! It is always great to have another Californian on the site even if you are a transplant ;)

No they don't.  In fact I saw a nice bullfrog at the base lake awhile back and told the guys in my shop that when I saw the frog it made my mouth water........needless to say I caught a lot of crap over that one, but there are about 3 other rednecks that I work with so they understood.......   Mike what is your job at Barksdale?   I know Cal we fish in the same bass club on base and I will be going Gold Coast this year.  My partner's last job assignment was Barksdale and he loved it.  Would  you recommend the Shreveport area as a good retirement destination.  My wife and I like it here but the home are too expensive, so we are undecided at the moment on where to retire, and I don't want to move back to Rayne.  Can  you recommend a good Realtor in that area??

Welcome to the site TN Tom I am sure that you will find a few folks around here from TN. I don't think buggin is quite the right word around here it is kind of like a great big family and there is usually someone around to talk fishin with. I can't think of one person that wouldn't answer a question if ya' had one and they will all chime in on a good discussion :)

Mike, I read that article last year and I  thought it had Caney lake mention but I don't remember Shreveport. But last night we were looking on-line at houses and you can get a lot of house in that area for 225,000 compared to california.  So my wife is liking the idea much better now about moving to Shreveport and for me all the fishing is a bonus.  I am hoping I could get a job at Barksdale as a GS-9 or so.  But yea send me an e-mail with those numbers and you can give my e-mail to the guy you know who frequents the site, I would appreciate it.  I thought about first shit duty but not sure once I make Master which will hopefully be this cycle.  Right now I am an AETC instructor but once that tour is done in Feb 06, I will be at almost 17years.  I will punch right at 20.  Thanks for the help and info.

Hi. My name is Tom and I'm from Illinois. Just below the central part of Illimois which is the Northern part of southern Illinois. lo I can see the arch in St. louis just down the road from my house. Too many trees around me to see very far and I like it like that. Saw a fox in the backyard this morning when I looked out at the lake (about 5 acres) It has been great living here but subdivisions are popping up faster than you can shake your flippin stick at. What were woods on the back side of the lake is now five houses pretty houses that are attached to the new golf course.  >:(Don't play golf any more). Fishin's more important. They cut down my summertime afternoon shade line now I wave at new neighbors instead of watching wild life while fishing. Progress. I have had the enjoyment of hearing that one of my new neighbors caught the biggest bass of here life here  :) Guess that makes up for all the things I don't like about Progress.  lo Keep smilin and reelin.

Hi Steve... I am from near Rochester, NY!  Nice to meet you!

I am from Collinsville, Illinois. Just across the river (you know, the big one) from St. Louis.

Collinsville is the horseradish capitol of the world and also has the biggest ketchup bottle on the planet.

"Bass1CPR" lives just down the road from me.

THAT is a big bottle of ketchup!  Reminds me of the BIG TIRE in Michigan!

I haven't seen the big tire in Michigan.

I'm glad the city here decided against the giant bottle of mustard.

Its pretty easy to choose Mike! See my avatar.... Thats the 2004 Catch and Release state record for Michigan!  :-[

Its a lake a couple miles from the house that has a terrible ramp, so skiers stay away and most fishermen are heading for the Maintained DNR ramps...  I have a little spot at the end of a gravel road that was a ramp from the 1960's. I slide the boat in there and fish 2000 acres all by myself! (most of the time)

It is nice having so many choices though....

Chip  ;)
