need help with 91 nitro.

Just bought the boat. there is a tube coming from the engine (91 johnson 115hp)  the end of the tube pops out behind the switches. The switches are on the side not the console. I hook the ear muffs up to it to let the engine run. While that was going on water was pouring out of that tube. Thoughts?

Sounds like a water pressure tube to me....but I am not a motor expert....
