I have a Z7 with a Keel-shield & have a Humminbird 778c mounted at the bow (transducer was fitted to bow mount Motorguide & i have changed to the wireless model ) , is it possible to glass a through hull transducer or will the keel-shield block the signal.

thanks Ken

Yes it can be done; however I'd put it back on your TM,,,, with the shape of the hull and storage areas it's going to be hard to get it glassed in as close to the front as it should be.

After having a Z7 for 4 years, I am not sure how you would get a transducer anywhere in the hull other than in the back.

Thanks for the reply's  ..... i have a lowrance transducer nose to go in my motorguide wireless but that means having to change front sounders form a humminbird to a lowrance & splicing the bare wires into a lowrance plug ....nothing is an easy fix

They make adapters for that and it's easy  ~gf

Ron , i did see an adapter on ebay but it didnt list a Humminbird 778 as being compatible ?

Is that off a transducer or is it running from your TM coming up from a built in transducer in the TM?

If it is coming of a standalone transducer I'd just go buy a new one that if for your depthfinder

Sorry about that, I didn't understand that you had bare wires.  The ones I was talking about just screw into the plug on the transducer and than change it over to the unit you want it hooked to.

This is the transducer nose cone that apparently will fit my Motorguide wireless bow mount , the only reason i bought it is that i tried to mount a conventional transducer set up to it & because the shaft of the Motorguide slides through a collar im unable to cable tie the slack transducer cable to the shaft & when i fold the motor up the excess cord tries to get cut on the hinging action.

Wow ok now I'm on the same page with you, sorry it took so long to get there  ~b~

If it were me I'd take it to a TM service center, but maybe you can order the right adapter plug from the same place you got the nose cone unit and wire it up color to color?  I've never run into what you are doing I've only used the adapters I posted about back at the start of the thread.

Sorry for not being any help at all  lo

Ron ' a trolling motor service center around here (apart from basic shaft replacement ) is about as rare as rocking horse shi#  ... im in a large town in a rural area in southern NSW Australia ...good fishing around here but not a lot in the way of dedicated marine electronic repairs.
i appreciate the time you & anyone else on here has taken to try & help.
i think i might just have a crack at wiring it up , iv googled the hell out of the subject & think that the three shielded wires are for depth so if i can get that to operate id settle for that.

Cheers Ken
