Looking at the Nitro site shows approx speed of 59-61 with 4-Stoke and 61-63 with Pro XS. Not that much difference that it would matter to me.

Mercury site says the new 4-Stroke was totally designed for low end torq and top end speed. The oil change system is simple and easy to do and is needed about every 100 hrs or once a year. So cost for that is about the same as 1 gallon of Optimax Oil.

I am leaning toward the 4-Stroke, but would like to hear from any owners that have one and if they are happy with it OR if the wish they had gone with the Pro XS.

Also would like to hear from the Pro XS owners and hear their opinions as well.

I've been considering the same. I spend some time talking with the local Nitro dealer and he recommends the ProXS. He said the hole shot is much better with it than the Fourstroke. I did not clarify if he was considering the new model. But he said his customers have not been happy with the Fourstroke. Mercury has engine test data for the ProXS and the old Fourstroke and the ProXS looks better. I was surprised that the Fourstroke did not have better fuel economy. I think I am leaning towards the ProXS.

When was the new Fourstroke actually new. I Gooles around a bit and see people talking about the new Fourstroke in 2011.

Fall of 2011 is when it came out.

Not sure how many have actually been sold. I know I remember someone talking about having one and said they liked it and were impressed by the hole shot.

Hoping to get some opinons from users that have one.

i cnt tell you much about the 4stroke however i did buy a new 2012 z-7 in the middle of 2011 with a 150 proXS i ended up putiing a 6" manual jackplate on it (made a huge difference) and with two people and a tournament load it would run every bit of 61mph gps. i could touch 64 alone there is plenty of motor for the boat and it perfeorms extremely well in my opinion i think i would buy a gal of oil every 3 tanks ish i would keep the tank a little of half full at the begging of an outing and never had to put more than 35-40 dollars back in it even on big lakes when i ran alot. runnning a 24p tempest plus

Friend if mine has a Z7 w/ the 4 stroke. Is SO quiet. And low end torque is huge. Great hole shot, and easily hits low 60's. I'd love to have it on my Sabre.

Thanks for the input guys. As to the Jackplate on the Z-7 Dayton you said it made a huge difference, in what way? The reason I ask is I have read several places on difference forums (including this one) that adding a jackplate on a Z-7 was not recommended by those who had done it (not enough gain for the cost) and Nitro considered it not needed due to the Rapid Hull Design.
