With a brutal coldfront coming through on Friday I knew it would slow the fishing down from earlier in the week when it was absolutely on fire. Fridays temps never made it out of the low 30's with rain, snow, and sleet most of the day.

Saturday got out for the 1st round of a Head-to-Head bracket style tournament, I was facing off against one of my buddies. We fished a shallow pond that gets to no more than 6 or 7 feet. He started out deep with a jerkbait while I started shallow pitching a jig to wood. He got two quick fish in the boat while I got nothing on the jig. I moved off the shore a little ways and started throwing a chatterbait on a Dobyns champion 705, and got an OK one off a piece of isolated cover on a flat in about 3 feet. Tried that for a little while longer but eventually bailed out to the deep water and started throwing a lipless crank, and got 2 more quick ones. Around 9:30 the bite around the entire pond completely shutdown for both of us, shallow and deep and we didn't get anything for quite a while. around noon I jumped shallow again and started pitching jigs and it was a good move. Ended up culling my 5 fish limit a few times and ended the day with 5 for 8.24 beating my buddy who only had his 2 early fish for 3.76.

Sunday I went back out again, the bite was still fairly slow, but got on a few good ones. Both came on a Buggs original jig pitched to shallow wood on a Dobyns DX 744, which I need to get a 2nd one of so I can rig one up with fluoro and one with braid, those rods are unreal.

Great report and congrats on the win :toot:

Those are some nice chunks on Sunday. Shame they didn't bite on Saturday. :shocking:
