Got out from noon-5 yesterday on a small shallow pond with tons of laydowns in Boxford that I know has some pigs in it. Water temps were mostly in the mid 40's. Started the day Pitching a Buggs jig to shallow laydowns on a Dobyns DX744 and swapping back and forth between a prototype swimjig and a booyah spinnerbait. Got a descent sized pickerel off a laydown with the jig right off the bat, so knew there was at least some activity up shallow so kept pitching jigs. Came into a cove with a good sized pine tree down in the back of it and hit that from a few different angles and last pitch SLAM! Thought I had a nice bass on, but as it gets closer to the boat I realize it is a monster pickerel, went 5-9 (New PB pickerel), couldn't believe it didn't break me off on fluoro with the whole jig in its mouth, definitely got lucky. Continued fishing laydowns to no avail aside from a few more small pickerel, and decided to move off the shore a little ways. Started throwing a 3:16 baby wake on the Dobyns 806 H SB  over the top of the grass and a luck e strike jerkbait on the dropoff. Around 4:15 had a Hawg follow the 3:16 back to the boat out of 2 side-by-side laydowns, so started switching back and forth between the 3:16 and an MS slammer, both in perch color. About 10 minutes before I had to leave right at the tip of a long laydown got this nice 4-3 on the 3:16, not bad for my first fish on my new Dobyns 806 and new 3:16. Not a terrible day all in all, back at it today hopefully will be able to get on the bass some more

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW--What a ride!!!
