I was searching the web for some info on Dobyns rods and came across this article . With Mr Corks permission I have linked to it for everyone to enjoy
( Although I wasn't sure if it belonged in Rods or Dock Talk) lol  feel free to move it if need be :)

This was an amazing read in my opinion on Gary and his work ethic and his Rod Building thought process.
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did

Pacific NW Ron

Very good article, Bigwrench.  I have seen other articles about his high standards.  I know as a dealer they are great to work with and take pride in customer service as well as rod quality.
Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Thanks for the post Bigwrench, It was a great read. I used to be a G-loomis only guy but I now have 3 Dobyns rods, I blame this on the guys here, had to try out what you all been talking about. Now if only spring will get here I can give a better report on them.
A bad day fishin beats a good day workin!!!! or as my daddy says when all else fails use dynamite!

I'm a St. Croix guy, but after reading that article I think I'm going to have to try a Dobyns out.

:) that's what I'm talkin about !!  I had a St.Croix Legend tourney and loved it but I can't explain it in words how much better my Extreme , Champion, Coalition and Savvy rods fit me and my style of fishing :).   I traded it for a Champion 766Flip :)   They just feel right ! Of course I had a Ton of help deciding from JMGullo , Mike Cork, Gwamba and Even Richard Dobyns took time out to help me make a decision , My biggest Obstacle was knowing what a Rod was supposed to do , understanding the different meanings of rod classifications and uses. I'm still learning and I'm not knocking any other brands out there but for me Dobyns fits !   If you wanna know about Dobyns rods send JMGullo a message ! He took time out to call me and explain alot of things ! Duke ,,RangerZ520,Kidd all these guys are sharp as tacks on Rods. The Kistler guys rock too !  But Dobyns just fits for me and this story just solidified my belief that Gary runs a first class business

Gary has worked very hard over his years designing rods.  He has held off for a year or more on putting certain models on the market because they just werent "right" to him.  He knows what he is doing, and he also consults with anyone that specializes in a certain technique to refine or just build a certain type of rod. That is evident in the swimbait rods for sure...best on the market without question.

I talk to Gary quite often about rods and techniques. Still working on getting some cross over rods for the northern guys for the walleye and crappie type applications.
