Was drafting this when you posted a second time, but here it is anyway:

If it's the 30-minute and not the 5-minute epoxy, it will work.  I've not personally used it, but Devcon used to be one of the most popular topcoats among custom lure builders.  Now it's been largely replaced with other coatings such as Envirotex Lite, Dick Nite's and other moisture-cure urethanes, automotive clears, and most recently UV-cure topcoats.

Devcon will still work, it just has less working time and yellows faster than other coatings.  I've also heard that it is more brittle than Envirotex Lite, but I can't speak from experience on that.

I'm very old school & still use Devcon for fly rod poppers, and I make some really big poppers, but use 60 or 90 minute set time epoxy. For coating I'll thin it with a couple of drops of ethyl alcohol (camp stove fuel) and apply it with a plastic bristle hobby brush. I've got 2 electric rotators & can do about 50 flies at a time, but don't usually try to mix that much epoxy at once. I can usually do about 10-15 at a time depending on their size.

I have had problems with it yellowing when using the 30 minute or 5 minute set time stuff, and the 60 or 90 minute will also yellow, but not enough to create any problems that I've noticed. I have a couple of painted white popper bodies I made up several years ago & coated & they still look white, a bit off white, but white none the less. They're not yellow looking!

I usually lose or bang up my poppers long before they turn yellow!  lo

Like Fishwhittler said, Devcon is not as popular as it once was, but still works well.  :)

I seal with 90minute thinned with denatured alcohol and hang to dry.
