Direct from the Fish Cave:  He is still iced in, and rapidly becoming stir-crazy.  Attempting to alleviate pressure by painting large quantities of lures.

Clown Shad - went off-the-wall with this pattern

American Shad - not much to say here, except that I really like how this pattern looks

Bluegill - admittedly these are not the normal shape for a bluegill, but I did it anyway.  Hey, I'd been breathing a bunch of paint fumes by then!   ~gf

Tennessee Shad deep cranks - my take on an old standby

I hate winter...

Ben, once again your talents are evident! Sorry that being stir crazy has to be the catalyst for your efforts, but you're making perfect use of the time!

Awesome paint as always! ~c~

Great looking baits, really loving those American shad patterns!  I know how you feel with the cabin fever, I was driving myself crazy around a month ago so I stashed myself away in the garage injecting hundreds of baits  lo  I finally have been getting out on the water more and more these past few weeks and I have to tell you, it's been great just to be back out on the water.  Hope you can find yourself some seat time soon!

Thanks guys!  I appreciate it.  Cabin fever really isn't all that bad, but what is bad is not being able to test new lures.  That'll drive you crazy. ~fff

Scales are very easy to do.  Get yourself a couple embroidery hoops to hold the scale mesh.  Some guys wrap the mesh completely around their lures and clip it in place with alligator clips and/or clothespins, but that method is much more difficult.  I recommend embroidery hoops, especially when you're just starting out.

When spraying, the key is to not spray the paint on too thickly—otherwise it will run and smear.  Tread lightly and heat-set the paint halfway before removing the scale mesh.  That way the paint won't smear so easily and at the same time the mesh won't stick to the lure.  And, practice often.

Glad to hear someone has open water!  For me it's bank time, but one way or another I'll be glad when ice-out comes.

It hasn't been exactly warm down here but living in Alabama has the perk of never having the lakes iced over so if you're brave enough you can always get out on the water!
