Do you all fish big reservoir waters, smaller natural lakes or rivers?

The only water I fish are large reservoirs.  I don't know of smaller lakes in my area to put my boat on.

I do fish the Alabama River though.

I have to say that Caddo Lake and Toledo Bend are two of my favorites but I have several lakes at my door step.  The two lakes mentioned...Black Lake Campti, Black bayou Hosston, Grande Bayou, Cross Lake, Wallas Lake, Lake Bistineau, Martin Creek, Lake of the Pines, Lake Merval, and if I want to travel 2.5 hours ican hit Lake Fork and Sam Raybourne just to mention a few.  BUT.... I have a lake on base called Flag lake and have caught over 30 fish above 8 pounds out of there plus a 33.69 lbs five string in a tournament many years back.  I actually went there today for 3 hours and caught five very healthy fish with the largest over 6 pounds, and I was just trying out a couple new lures.......I truely live in a sportsmans paridise.

Creel Limit Zero

Mostly tidal rivers here.  Potomac, and Upper Bay.  Few away trips to large reservoirs.

While I've not fished the following places since I moved back to Indiana. I really like to fish some of the natural lakes in northern Indiana. Lake Wawasee, Tippecanoe, and Lake Chapman.  I also fish the Mississinewa reservoir up by Sherm's Marine.  Locally I spend most of my time on Brookville reservoir. My favorite Alabama lake would have to be Jordan or Lay.

GRR884

I love the clear water and sandy bottoms of St. Clair.

I've caught a fish or two off that light house.  ;)

All of the places he mentioned...I live in Bossier City as well.

You know I'm a bit envious of those that fish smaller natural lakes.  Less searching,  less riding and more fishing.   For nostalgic reasons too.   35 plus years a go it was sea nymph and 18 HP Evinrude making the rounds in a aluminum deep V 14' boat on smaller natural likes with lilly pads every where.   ~gf

Within an hour and 15 minutes, we can be on Eufaula, West Point, Martin, Wedowee, or Jordan.  Within 15 minutes can be on Lake Harding, Goat Rock or Oliver.  The last 3 are smaller lakes on the Chattahoochee.  Don't really care to fish any of the last 3 except for Harding, but they are an option.

Carky,

I have not fished Harding.  Is it below Eufuala?

Harding is just below West Point.  It is north of Columbus/Phenix City.

Now that's good to know.  Gonna go check this one on my Navionics PC App.  Thanks!

Used to be a better pond to fish than Eufaula or West Point.  These days it is more like the Dead Sea, BUT it is close.  During the spring you can usually catch quite a few on Senkos under the docks and around the sea walls.

Best day ever came off of this lake.  7 fish:  44 lbs, including an 11 pounder.

I've been catching them good on Logan Martin the last couple of times out.  Like to get confirmation on this one.  I read the big fish weights at last weekends BFL on Guntersville was off the charts?  The "G" is back baby if it's true.  This is what I read.  Two 10's I think a 12 and 13lb big fish were weighted in.   :shocking: :shocking: :shocking: :shocking:

I just looked it up Fly.  31lbs won angler and 11-13 big fish for angler.  13-01 big fish for co-angler.

I prefer the smaller lakes as well.  Lake Columbia, Erling, Monticello, Millwood, DeGray in Arkansas as well as the Ouachita River.  In North LA I like D'Arbonne, Claiborne, Red River, and Toledo Bend although I've only been there once.
Big fan of Lake o the Pines, Wright Patman, and Fork in East Texas as well.

I prefer Big Sam Rayburn but I live about two miles from the boat launch on Lake Livingston.  Conroe is okay during the colder seasons but hard to cast in the summer without catching a jet ski.  T-Bend is another favorite that I haven't fished in years.  I will have to change that after I retire later this year.
