Any info on a 1977 Ranger 175-AC Bass Master Classic. Has a plaque on the right side near steering wheel that says: Special Edition Bass Master Classic. No one can even find the model#.

What kind of info are you looking for?

Why is the model number unlisted at the BMV. And why does it have a plaque on the side. Something special?

Mike Cork

I'm not sure about the model number? I know back in the 80's there were two places to find the model number. One was the decal on the side of the boat, that's obviously long gone. The next place was the coast guard placard near the throttle. That's probably gone or so faded you can't read it anymore.

In the late 70's all Classic Contenders had to use the same boat. It was a way of keeping the playing field level. Ranger supported that for several years.. Each year there was the Bassmaster Classic Edition.

This boat could have been one of the ones used in that years classic. Just because it's a Classic Edition doesn't me that it was in the classic though as anyone could order one.

If you can still find a serial number on the boat somewhere (Usually on the transom) you could give Ranger a call with the number and they could look it up for you.

The sticker is still attached to the side of the boat and in great condition. It clearly shows Model# 175-AC. But I am unable to find this model listed anywhere.

In doing a little digging in with Google I found a couple interesting things. Obviously the 175 is the model number of the boat, the A is for Allison, the hull was bought from Allison Racing Boats and the C is for Classic.  :-*

They should be able to tell if it was used in a classic :-*
