i am installing 2 pro series 6ft power poles on my buddies 2007 tr 186. He is currently running a 23 p tempest prop on it. It does ok unless the livewells are full, then it is TERRIBLE!!!  Im thinking the holeshot will be the same as the livewells full with the power poles......QUESTION.....what prop will work for this application, so he can get the boat on plane quickly. He is running a 2007 merc opti 150. thanks for your help!!!!

I am currently running a 2005 TR-185 with 2005 Opti 150 with a 23P Tempest Prop with a single 8ft Powerpole Blade. With livewells full or empty the holeshot is great, I only have trouble when I have full livewells and a second person in the boat.
I did notice a slight drop of holeshot speed when I installed the Powerpole due to the bracket causing some drag, but it wasn't much. I'm sure 2 Powerpoles will cause further drag, but not too much.

So far I haven't experimented with other props, but I will be this year.

I hope some seasoned motor/prop gurus will chime in here to help you, as it will also help me  ;D

His setup might not be quite optimum for a tr-186.  Typically with a 23" Tempest+ it has a killer holeshot.  I had the same problem with a Talon dragging a little but once the height was adjusted the holeshot remains excellent.  Heavily loaded with 2 guys, full livewells and full gas there may be some compromise on holeshot but once the fuel level goes down the holeshot comes back.  I would bet he's a little low on engine height. What kind of rpm's and h2o pressure does he have at wot?
