Quick question guys.  I've got a 2012 175TXW.  What I want to do is take the Lowrance that's on the console and move it up front on the bow and put an upgraded unit (Not sure which one yet) on the console.  My question is this;  Does anybody know for sure if the 2012's have the power up there already to do this?  I really don't want to run wires all over my boat.  I've been reading the forum here and I see some posts that say that there is power up there.  I just want to be sure.  Thanks   :)

Should, I have a 2010.  It's located behind the panel with the engine trim switch & trolling motor receptacle.  I use a small file in the bottom of the trim to run the power wire.

Thanks for the input.  Much appreciated.   :)

I have a 2011 175txw. When I went to put one up front on mine they already had it wired for one. The wires were just under front panel. So made it real easy.

there black and orange wires on my 2010. They have butt connectors on them already. I just moved my 596 HD DI from console to bow, i didn't use these wires. I didnt have a voltage tester to test if the wires had power. It was pretty difficult to run wires through console and up deck to bow, but eventually got it done.

I'm thinking about putting my old Lowrance up front too. Now I just have to put my transducer back on..Should have left it all wired up when I replaced it.

My boat has a removable bow light mounted on a post.  I bought a second post and, with the help of my maintenance guy at work, mounted an Eagle locator to the top of the post.  I simply plug the post into the bow light receptacle and turn the power on to the receptacle from the dash.  Eagle unit sits about 14" above the deck and is wired to a trolling motor mounted transducer.  2013 will be my 4th year with this unit with great results.  My boat is in winter storage so I can't attach a picture.  Simple to assemble and works great for me.  I've had lots of interest from other fishermen at boat launches.

When you can get to your boat again, be sure to take some photo's and put this in the tips board. It's got a shot at winning the seasonal tip contest :-*

You are not into your electronics too deep yet...I strongly suggest you consider making the jump to Hummin Bird before Lowrance get their claws too deep into you...I personally wish I had gone with HB instead of the headaches I deal with from Lowrance...

That's an awesome idea!  I'd def. like to see some pics when you get a chance.

That's the plan as soon as the funds become available.   ;D

Using the boat wiring harness is OK as long as you stay with simple, low featured electronics. If you get more sofisticated electronics, the boat wiring harness conductors are so small, they have too much resistance to support the higher amperage units.

I put Side Imaging at the bow of my PT 170 TX and ran 12 guage marine grade wring to the bow.

That goes for any brand of boat and can be an issue for console mounted units too with fuse panels, switches, connections involved with that small wiring-just more resistance involved. If you unit has a voltage readout check it. You can't tell if you have inadequate wiring with a voltmeter. You have to test under load.

Very good thought, I ran 10 ga. from the fuse block, I think though I'm going to double check thw wiring and voltage when the snow clears, wiring my boat isn't too bad, everything is relatively open.

I have the same question, I have an 09 pro16 and was told there's no plug in on the bow. Just curious what would I need to do to install one?
