Just bought my first bass boat a 2002 TR 186 with a 150 Merc on it a few months ago. The trolling motor on it is an older one and not much juice. Looking to upgrade this winter. I was thinking about a 75 lb trust 24 volt. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

I have almost the same boat as yours and have been running a 106lb 36volt motor until last week. I have just replaced it with a Minn Kota 101lb motor.
I love the power of these 36volt motors and I can fish for 2 solid days (maybe longer) on a full charge.

However, I am positive that 24volt motor would be plenty powerful enough to pull your boat along. Most of my fishing buddys use 24volt motors with similar sized boats and some bigger boats with no problems at all.

Congrats on your Triton purchase......I love mine!

I have a Stratos 285 PRO XL its 18.5ft long with a Yamaha 150 VMax.  I upgraded the trolling motor on it a couple years ago to a 24 volt 80lb MinnKota Fortrex.  I don't have any issues moving the boat around with it.

I have an 82lb motorguide on my tr-186 and it does a good job.  I would probably only consider an 80lb MinnKota or 82 Motorguide depending upon your preference.

I hate to mention it but I am actually thinking of upgrading to the 101Fortrex.  I fish a lot of weeds and strong current and I'm beginning to feel I could use the extra power.

I have a TR-186 and put a Fortrex 80 on it a couple years ago.  Have fished a lot of windy lakes in Kansas and Texas and it has never let me down.  Even fished almost two full days in the wind when I forgot to plug it in one night at Fork.   :bang :bang

I would get the most power you can afford that fits your battery setup.  In other words if you don't have room for 3 batteries, no point in a 36 volt system. But my feeling is that you can't have too much power.  You can always power it down. But there is a limit on powering up.  Jim.
