Ranger Boat Cover

I can finally say im a proud owner of a Ranger! I have fished out of plenty of my dads but finally got one of my own. I bought a 175vx. I was wanting to know what would be the best cover for this boat. Yes of coarse the factory ranger cover is the best, but i called today and almost used the bathroom in my pants when they told me 1165 for a new cover. Where can i get a reasonable cover, that is durable and waterproof that will fit good!

Congrats on the new ride

There are a number of places to get quality boat covers ie Academy, BPS, Wal Mart, Cabela's etc. It all depends on what you want. I've bought my last (2) covers from Academy.

Good luck with your new boat and get some pictures posted when you can.

I will get those pictures posted, will probably be sometime next week. So your saying by the store brand cover? Or this there a particular brand that you reccommend? Im trying to find one that will fit snug and if possible be towable with no problems! Thanks

Most of the covers that you buy in the stores do an alright job of keeping out dirt, rain and animals. As far has traveling with them on your boat IMO I wouldn't do it. I have in the past and had some serious rub marks; paint removed etc from the boat due to the covers flapping and shifting on the boat from the wind.

A custom cover will have some reinforcement / protective material around the edges that "Touch" the boat when secured to the trailer. This will keep the cover from scratching; rubbing the paint / gel coat off your boat. This is one of the reasons why custom covers cost more. When I travel I take my cover off and put it back on once I get to where I'm going.

When you go to the stores you'll have to look on the box for the "Style" of boat you own. Then you'll match that "Letter Code" up to a cover. They have different kinds of covers you'll just have to figure out how much and what style you'll need.

My cover I bought cost less than a $100.00 dollars but I only use it to cover the boat while sitting in the yard etc. It comes off when traveling.

No towable cover is going to be cheap, but I would check with aurora canvas and see what they have to fit your boat.

Has anyone heard anything about iboatcovers.com ? By there website it sounds to be perfect. But everything is so misleading these days.
