I've always fished with soft plastics, but just recently started getting into the hard lures such as Lucky Crafts, Terminators, and Rapalas...so I never really used hard baits. But now I'm sick of throwing senkos and grubs everytime I'm out! So I've been going on a crankbait/jerkbait/spinnerbait shopping spree. I went to Bass Pro Shops and spent 50 dollars, than went two days later and spent another 50 dollars, than went to Dicks and spent about 60...you know how it goes...any advice?

As long as you have food, and most of your bills get paid I see no problem lol.  Jim

I'm not seeing a problem here ~roflmao ~roflmao

The only fix here is to change your way of thinking to understand that it's okay ~c~ ~c~

A little research here on the site and posting questions will help your purchases to be more productive, but that's part of bass fishing.... The Experimenting and finding something to help you negotiate a catch.

I have been learning to research before buying.  THAT way you are making an informed decision and can provide a valid reason for your purchases.  We all know the drill, "THis lure was rated 5 out of 5 on the BPS, do you know how rare that is."  "I hear this color/lure is hot right now." etc, etc.

and in the spirit of Patrick McManus, "Honey, I only bought two, they must have multiplied in the bag!"

I go onto eBay and a few other overstock venders and just buy the closeouts and really cheap ones. That way i can build up my collection.

My local flea market had a killer deal on some new lures which I couldn't say no to

might be the best advice yet...make up the difference in gas savings.

actually, when you look at all the baits out there, as much as folks like the old stuff from a collectors view point..the new stuff we get to use might just be some of the most amazing work and functional stuff in history.

DavidFathali

Unless it's stuff you really need. I would justbbuy when its a price you can't say no to.

I bought all this last week from eBay and some from my flea market for about 17 dolllars with the case too. All were brand new!

I think anyone who fishes whether it be just for fun or tournaments has the same addiction. There is a local tackle shop near my house that has a huge sale every year with different vendors displaying all the new stuff, this year I spent $150 and I added everything up and had well over $450 worth of gear. I bought a mystery bag for $40 that had over 60 bags of plastics, ZOOM worms, Lake Fork worms and Roboworms. Towards the end of the day they would bring out large brown paper bags completely full but they wouldn't tell you what was in them, I also bought one for $50 and hit had 20 True Image swimbaits, 25 Cavitron buzzbaits, 5 Rago swimbaits, and a CL8 swimbait that was worth $35 alone.

Whoa whoa, don't go back so often.. What would I do with that time saved I would have spent at the local tackle shop.  Ha!

Every trip seems to be ~$100, give or take. Heck my wife does our finances and she created a "fishing" category in Quicken.  But to her credit, she has stopped asking "how come $10-20 always turns into you coming home with a bag of stuff?"

So I agree too, don't see a problem this is normal behavior.
