Hi, new to here. Would appreciate any help. I have a Lowance Elite 5 and was wondering if there is a way to use the cursor to mark a spot off the chart (and then hit "go to cursor") and then return to your actual position to navigate, saving the coord's, bearing and distance to the spot. When I try this the only way I can get back to my boat is to use the "return to vessel" option and that cancels the cursor/nav info. I know you can enter the cursor in as a saved waypoint, but was hoping there was a faster way. Thanks for any help that you can give. Lowance didn't have any answers other than enter a way point and then navigate.

I think it's quite a simple fix. Once you have hit "go to cursor", simple click "exit" and that should take you back to your boats position, then you will navigate. I'm sure if I am wrong that one of our experts will chime in.

Oh, and welcome to Ultimatebass.com   ;D

Thanks for responding. Is the "exit" on the same screen as the "go to cursor"? or is it a hard button? Thanks again.

I just looked at the Elite 5 on the net and there doesn't seem to be an "exit" button on the unit. Sorry for misleading you there. I was thinking about the buttons on my HDS when making my first response.

I'm sure one of the UB.com Lowrance gurus will be able to answer you better than me  :help:

I'm not sure I understand your specific issue.  When you select "Goto cursor", then select "Return to Vessel" from the menu, the unit will continue navigating you to that specific location you selected with the cursor until you select Cancel from the Navigation Menu.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it doesn't do that on mine. Recently, on a trip, I put the cursor on a point off the chart where my boat was, say 15 miles away, and hit goto cursor. The GPS coords, bearing to and distance to the cursor displayed in the lower left of the screen. But my boat was not shown on the chart so I pushed the return to vessel and the chart went to my boat, but the cursor info went away.

The small box with the GPS coordinates will go away, but the unit is still navigating to that specific place.  You either have to view the Steer/Navigation page, or add whatever navigational data overlay you want to your map or sonar page (Menu, Overlay Data).  For example, digital depth and water temp are data overlays.  There are several navigational data overlays you can select and view on the screen.

Ok, that makes sense! We'll be out this weekend and I'll change the overlays. Thanks sooo much!
