Folks keep saying that they are flipping the heavy mats on Okee to catch fish. Are you all truly flipping?

Lot's of folks around here think Pitching is Flipping  :-\ Trying to get Laurie's equipment set up and just wondering about this particular dilemma in the communication/slang words that get used in regards to bass fishing :roll2:

based on what I saw today.......Okee should be AWESOME.....Full blown spawn.......If the weather fairy is cool with it ;)

Steve the problem with the spawn is finding clean water to locate fish........Theres no doubt in 2 weeks it will be on but where is the clean water........Right now moonshine and the monkey box have the cleanest water......I have seen and guess what everyone else has seen it too so its getting hammered........And Mike as far as flippping and pitching i pitch alot but right now those huge mats your talking about just arent there right now.......Wilma moved it all over the lake....... :'( Theres still mats but nothing like we have grown so acustomed too......

I'm like Jason and I mainly pitch mats 95% of the time.  I think that the general term "flipping" now covers the flipping technique as well as the pitching technique.  When you hear someone say they were flipping, 80% of the time they were actually pitching mats ;)

I kinda figured that, we get the same thing over here. Flipping of yester year just isn't done a whole lot anymore so I thought I would ask. I will get Laurie set up with both just in case though  ;) Thanks folks ~c~

The BIG fish wil be caught flipping......ask any of da locals.  I for one find flipping a lot of work.  Therefore I'm stuck with the 6+ while my pals are nailing the 9+ ??? :)

Lots of ways to catch the big ones.  Gold black trap got the co-angler big one 8+ during one of the days of last tourney.  Chatterbait got Thrift his win 3 weeks or so ago.  Spinnerbait will work too.  The big timers have a two or three pronged approach.  Don't limit yourselves - versatility is the key to most tourneys - even on Okeechobee.  Good luck down there - we all want pics posted here when all is said and done ;D

I'm with ya Swede,  Last year when I was down there we caught fish on Spinnerbaits and traps early.  Sun got up we flipped mats unless we had some wind.

My best success has been spinnin.......I guess Okee has golden shiners as the natural forage as up here too.

Hate to say it, but the real big fish will be a shiner or shad bite if the water is cold.
