I'm coming up on 8 months of ownership of my SabreFTD coming out of a 2010 first off the assembly line BassCat Eyra with a 250SHO.  Although,  the Eyra is a dream boat and my personal favorite 20' BassCat I have to say I have not regretted one bit downsizing to the SabreFTD.  I no longer tournament fish and I got 82 mph off my bucket list so I decide to move down for that and multiple other reasons.  Actually,  I don't fish as much now.   I know if I had that Eyra/250SHO in the winter months I would have gone faster.  Kinda glad I got rid of it so I wouldn't be tempted with that pursuit.   ~roflmao

Anyway, my BassCat SabreFTD more then meets my needs going forward.  If I did get back into tournament fishing I would have no problems fishing out of my skit scat scoot 18 footer.  Actually,  my partner and I won a Nitro Z7 boat fishing out of my 2008 Sabre/150HO Etec on the Sylcacuga Bass Pro Shops trail back in 2009 in a field dmoniated with 20' boats with 250 motors.  Just saying BassCat's Sabre quality and fishability does just fine!

1.  I can run a full load 66-68 with two people depending on seasonal temps
2.  I have more then enough room and storage to fish two in the boat
3.  The newer consoles gives me more then enough space to put in a HB 1198 or HDS8 electronics flush mounted.
4.  The rough water ride of my 18' BassCat has proven itself to make me feel safe.

Thanks to BassCat and their top notch dealer Brech Marine in Selma, AL I'm covered with support that will allow me to enjoy my fishing for a very long time.  After owning BassCat's 20' premium boat I can honestly say their 18' entry Sabre has all the premium build qualities you would expect from their best flag ship boats.   Now that is BassCat Strong!

The pro's were catching more fish than us average joe's have ever caught out of 18 foot boats for years.  Then all of the sudden everyone thought that since the pro's were now running 20 and 21ft boats, thats what you needed to catch bass.  I know that when I watch a race on TV those guys are running 800hp engines in highly refined vehicles at speeds sometimes in excess of 200mph.  But not once have I though that I needed a vehicle like that to get back in forth to work in or take on vacation.

If that's the type of boat that you want then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.  But, those boats don't make you a better fisherman, might make fishing a little more comfortable but your not going to be a pro overnight in one.  Don't take me wrong I'm not blasting guys who have the 52K boat because thats their choice and as long as we live in this good ole USA it will always be!

I LOVE my antique PII.  Not real sure that I will EVER get rid of it.  It runs as good as the newer ones, (faster if I had a new big block on it) has everything I need for a day of bass fishing.  Spend 35K on a new PII or do some remodeling on my antique and still have NO payment and catch just as many fish as I would with a new one.   Just makes sense to do some remodeling.  I could go down to my local Cat dealer (if I had one) and order myself any new Cat I wanted (with the wifes permission of course).  But, I choose to be a miser and keep that money in the bank.

My point in all of this?  Fish out of whatever you want as long as your on the water fishing who cares!

Yep,  as long as we are on the water who cares but gotta say I am impressed with the quality build and fishability from BassCats non twenty foot boats.  They are rock solid and offer lots of premium value at more affordable price point.  However, no mas for me being on the water this weekend.  Yesterdays Alabama heat was at 105° with more triple digits this weekend.   Ice tea in the right hand and g/maximus parked in the recliner is the place for me this weekend.   ~shade ~roflmao ;PEP)
