I was very disappointed in my rapala x-rap jerk baits this year. The lips of both my small ones broke  ~rant and I feel like i barely touched them. I also broke a rapala perch square bill but I beat the crap out of that thing because it caught me alot of fish. This leaves me questions for you guys:

1. Can you and is it worth it to repair the lips on my jerk baits? good web sources appreciated

2. Has anyone tried the lucky craft or new KVD jerk baits and gotton better results?

3 Would anyone like to buy my broken baits? lol
I'll do my talking on the water.

Repairing them is possible I guess but it's very difficult to get the bills straight. That said sometimes it creates a unique action that can be irresistible to bass. My father used to take a lighter and heat up the bills of his stick baits and twist them to get a different action.

I personally use a lot of lucky craft for my minimal jerkbait needs. Don't fish them a lot anymore. Back in the 90's I lived on them. Just not much success in Louisiana.

Mike,

Thanks for your response and your praise on the article about fall jerk baits. My x-raps have lost there entire bill. I guess the broken jerks could be used in a finesse fashion but the if I'm doing that I'd sooner throw a soft jerk/fluke. Without the lip the bait simply won't dive and constantly want to move with the line towards the surface. I've heard of the same problem with the smaller x-raps from other people. I'm hoping strike king puts together a kvd slash jerk kit for bass pro shops this spring so I can save some money on them. Again thanks for your response.

Since it's completely gone :( Swing over to the Tackle Box board and ask some of the lure makers what they think. I know a few make their own baits from scratch so they will have ideas on how to make a bill :-*

Never mind I went to get you a link and see you've posted there also  ~c~

Don't know about the x-rap but I do know the kvd jerkbait is great. Also the Rick clunn lucky strike jerkbait is also nice, it basically the same as the vision 110 if your familiar with those.

I've never broken a lip on an X-Rap. But then I always fish them over water that is deeper than they run. Lucky Crafts are great. I don't care how much they cost, they just flat out catch fish. I've never broken one of them either.
