I'm moving to Savannah, GA and already looking for a Jon boat. I'm thinking Tracker 1542. I want to deck it, and run two trolling motors since most ponds I'll be fishing are restricted. I've read through the forums and have a pretty good idea what I want to do, but are there any things you boat vets can give a newbie as far as things not to overlook? All comments and concerns are much appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to UltimateBass and good luck fishing there on Ft.Stewart.  I've heard theres some pretty good fishing there on post.  I have a G3 1548 rigged out for fishing here on Ft. Hood.  Make sure you get some decent deep cycle batteries.  If you can swing it get yourself an on board battery charger.  They are sweet when it comes time to recharge the batteries you got one plug to plug in and theres no setting up chargers on your back deck either.  Get a (2) bank charger unless your going to a 24 volt system then you'll need a (3) bank charger.

I have a 12 volt Motor Guide 41lb foot operated on the front deck and a 12 volt 65lb transmon mount on the back. I took the old (2) bank charger out of my Stratos and mounted it in the back near the battery compartment.

When you get the chance post some pictures of your rig.  There's a few guys on UB here that fish "Electric Motor" tournaments and lakes.

Thanks for your Service to Our Great Nation also.  Theres lots of retirees and active duty guys that hang out here too.
