Why do you make it a 2 day event? I thought everyone agreed last year that was a bad idea.  ~b~

I am with you Nitro i thought they were going to do one complete day for rod and reel and then the night before for the bow hunters. I want to do this but not driving 3Hours to fish for 6 hours. Going out on the potomac at night is a death trap.

Its basically a one day night tournament if you look at the hours.

the hours run from 6pm through the night and morning to the 12:30 the following afternoon if i'm reading this right.  Its actually an 18 hour tourney unless that is a typo.   I doubt its a typo since the festivities start at 2:30 on sunday afternoon.

It's not a typo, the tournament runs all the way through the night for the bowhunters.  Apparently they did not heed to the suggestions Nitroman...

yeah, and still wont... this guy has 9 posts... the first 5 refer to the first annual... the last 4 refer to the second annual.. unforunately we dont get any feedback from him..i think it would go a long way with people wanting to attend.

We considered doing an all day tournament for the hook and line guys with a night before for the bow fishermen but the problem with that is the bowfishermen didnt want to stay around from 6pm the night before until 6pm the next day to check in. It would basically be a 24 hour tournament. This was especially tough since some of the guys were coming from out of state and didn't want to be leaving after 6pm on sunday. Keep in mind you don't have to fish the full time period, I know a number of the hook and line guys last year fished the night before until dark and then the next morning until weigh in. That would give you a full 9 hours of daytime fishing. I've also personally had some awesome luck night fishing for snakeheads on the potomac, especially with topwater on calm nights. Always open to suggestions guys so keep them coming, we are trying to accomodate for everyone, just can be tough.

So the rod and reel guys need to come down fish a few hours at night then go get a hotel room $60-$100 Dollars get up in the morning and go  out again. Sorry but it cost me enough just to drive down and fish let alone get a hotel room. GOOD LUCK WITH THE TOURNEY.

I'd think the fish would be a little spooky after being shot at all night?

I was trolling around and found you guys talking about snakeheads.  My team was the ones who won the Snakehead tournament last year.  We used bows but seen alot of people catching these things with rod and reel after the sun went down.  It was my first time ever seeing a snakehead but was amazed at how agressive these thing are.  If anyone is wondering what the winnings are we got $410 for first place and almost got another $410 for the biggest fish, so it was well worth our 3 hour drive.

I want to catch some tell me where are the best places going down june 24th

Creel Limit Zero

Shallow grass seems to hold the most of them Greg.  Caught them this year in Mattawoman and Occoquan, but I know some guys in my club caught them in Chicamuxen and Aquai too.

They seem to really like the grass mats.  We noticed that at night they get up on top the grass and lay there waiting for fish to swim by.  In one one night last year we shot 18 And seen another 50 to 60.

Just leting you rod and reel guys know that the biggest fish payout is supposed to be around $2500.
