Does anyone know how much speed is affected by say every 100lbs of weigth of the boat.

I've heard that it's "equal" to 1mph. I've never done any testing to prove or disprove this statement but the theory makes sense.

I'd be a bit embarrassed to admit how much I have chased the rabbit on this one.  I guess says something about my fishing.   ~roflmao

Here is what I have learned.  For every 10lb added toward the bow of the boat equals 1mph lost at WOT and for every 100lbs added to the rear of the boat equals 1mph lost at WOT.  The point I'm making is weight distribution is extremely critical to WOT performance.  My info comes direct from Hydromotive Props.  They are prop racing guru's with some WORLD Record's being run with their props if memory serves me right.  Hope this helps.

Interesting, I know I carry WAY too much tackle but haven't paid attention to m y speed loss :-\

Do know that a tourney load with two adults I loose bout 4 MPH

Flyswatter is correct in what he is saying. There is a guy who lives here in my home town that won the South East outboard dragboat racing title for two years plus. He had some top notch drag boat setup gurus that were the best in the business and he told me almost word for word what Flyswatter has said and there is lot of reading on the internet that supports the same.
