Well guys after owning it for almost 2 whole months I finally had a chance to get my boat out over the weekend. It ran awesome. The motor ran flawlessly and with that dual hydraulic steer it was like rolling a caddilac across the water. No chime walk what so ever at 64 mph. Never ran a boat of this size or nature. Always have had small hp boats. So I was a bit nervous to say the least. I have never ran anything with a hotfoot or bigger motor on it. It wasn't until about the third take off that i finally got the holeshot down and when i di I have to tell you it jumped right on plane with minimal bow lift. and the thing I thought was awesome was how smooth the ride was. it just glided across the water and when i came across other boat wakes I just throttled down and skimmed right across them with no bouncing around or diving into the next wave. I have heard some people say they don't like how rough the tritons ride, but I have got to say I thought it was great. And I was looking for every little thing that might bother me. I do have to say you guys were right about that carbureted 150 xr6 it has it's own unique idle. It felt like i was getting ready to throttle down on a drag car or something, but when you put the hammer down it goes and purrs like a kitten.

Thanks guys for all the questions answered and encouragment when I was looking into buying this rig. It helped alot and helped me understand what i was getting into. I had forgat to take the camera to get some pictures of it in the water But promise i will do that next time I get it out. That red really sparkles in the sun and matched up with the white hull really pops out on the water.

March 22nd is when I finally got to take my 1998 TR20 out for the first time since I bought it back in November.
It is my first bass boat and I was probably just as excited as you anticipating that first ride. I had to idle out probably a half mile to the speed zone so the anticipation was building. It took me a few times to figure out the trim and throttle, plus the motor had been winterized. But once it got up on plane it was great. Will never forget that first ride.
I have a Johnson 200 on the back with a Fury 24P prop. No jack plate. I remember in Nov when I test drove it with an FLW pro and it ran around 66 mph. He did comment that the boat was setup great.

Glad you got to enjoy your new boat.  I'm sure you'll continue to enjoy it for a long time.  The xr6 is great motor, you'll get used to its personality.
