My dad and I are looking to join an open buddy tournament this summer and the only problem is our boat, which is a glorified jon boat, does not have a livewell.  Obviously one of the conditions of the tournament is that we have a livewell on the boat.  Can anyone recommend anything that I can purchase that will do the trick?  Any suggestions will help as always.  Thanks.

i've seen alot of people use a large ice chest with an aerator in it. bass pro sells an aerator system that has a suction cup to attach it at the top of an ice chest to spray the water and create the oxygen.http://www.basspro.com/Fish-Saver-Portable-Aerator/product/1283/82601

I have 2 john boats rigged with ice-chest livewells. they work great. i would suggest using no less than a 50 quart. The "Super Fish Saver Kit" (http://www.cabelas.com/aerators-bait-keepers-fish-lights-super-fish-saver-kit-1.shtml)is my favorite choice of aeration systems. to fill the chest with water all you have to do is remove the end cap from the spray bar, toss the pump into the water, and turn the pump on. I use a "Hush Bubbles" for when i don't want the aerator going. it runs off of two D cell batteries.

Both of my john boats have an electric start motor with the battery in the back of the boat. This same battery runs the trolling motor. Since the battery is located in the rear of the boat and i wanted keep my livewell cooler up near the front deck, i had to run some wires from the battery up to where i wanted to keep the livewell. Using a set of 12 volt two wire plugs to complete the connection(http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/S-D-426880-1/). Also, I put a two way marine switch on the positive wire leading to the pump to save me from having to fool with the battery connections all day.

I have found the plugs in the link to be the best. Cigarette lighter style plugins don't last too long. I have never gotten more than two years out of them. my spotlight has a cig style plug so i rigged up an adapter that goes along with the plugs in the link. i keep the adapter in a dry place at all times.
