Here are some drop shot weights that I made to look like rocks. The first pic the "dropshot rocks" are mixed in with regular rocks and the second pic I pulled them away for a better look. Took two 3/8 oz. and two 1/4 oz. drop shot weights and mixed up some marine epoxy putty and molded it around the weights and let it cure. (be sure not to get the mix too close to the swivel part of the weight to affects its rotating capabilities.)Then I took a mixture of brown , green and greenblack acrylic craft paint and by painting the weight brown first and then taking a acid brush dipping it in the paint and then dabbing the brush onto some waxpaper to get most of the paint off the brush, then using a stabbing technique on the "weight" with the bristles of the brush letting each color dry before the next to create the natural rock look. With the spawn about to take place i figured it would have more of a natural look than a shiny round weight. Then I clear coated them to give them a nice wet look.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. To "bass1cpr"....yeah my girlfriend reminds everyday how I'm eat up with this fishing thing...LOL. ~cf Been eat up with it since I was about 5 years old so thats 50 years worth and counting. To "jesse1378" I actually got the idea from some guy from england I think it was who was actually taking real rocks and I guess was drilling holes in them and epoxing the swivels in place. Thought it was a great Idea but I like the idea of the lead dropshot weight with epoxy putty,...smaller profile and heavier. Will be retiring this year and can't wait to really get into this hobby even deeper! (My girlfriend may leave me when that happens.) LOL. Guess I better get the Brad Paisley CD ready ("I'm gonna miss her,looky there I gotta bite).

my only suggestion is dont get into making soft plastics or painting cranks....man its stupid addicting and gets pretty pricey really quick.

Very cool!!!!! So are you using a more powerful rod than the typical drop shot rod? Most generic ds rods range from 1/8 - 1/2 oz and the rocks and weights are most likely out of that range. Call it Power Shotting!  lo

This would definitely work in the rip rap I fish most of the time.  ~c~

"Papi! I like this reel. It is so much easier to use than the other one (the spinning reel) and it is more fun to use too." Now all I can say to that is this;
"That's my little girl!"

To "Islandbass" the rod i use is a Skeet Reese 7'2" dropshot rod and the lure wt. range is 1/16 oz. to 1/2 oz. I use 20# power pro line with a 15# fluorocarbon leader about 3 ft. long. The weights I used were 1/4 oz. and 3/8 oz before adding the epoxy. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet but think it will be just fine. I do more dropshot fishing in Mi. my home state than I do here in La. Love that Skeet Reese Rod too. ~cf Good fishin' to ya'!
