Just bought a canoe where to go?

Hello fellow Marylanders, I just bought a 14.6 foot old town fishing canoe and I'm looking for suggestions on places to splash it this spring. I don't mind driving an hour or do from Annapolis. Any advice would be helpful.

Well I splashed it Sunday in the little patuxent river. Took my wife(first time fishing ever) and she caught a 24" northern pike on a micro lite set up. It was my first pike and didn't quite know how to handle him. Any tips on handling one? I just grabbed it behind the head. Any other suggestions on where to take my canoe?
